DELHI– Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) and The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL) have signed an agreement to develop eight hotels with more than 2,000 rooms across four Indian cities. The projects will cover Mumbai (BOM), Ahmedabad (AMD), Lucknow (LKO) and Guwahati (GAU), expanding the hospitality infrastructure surrounding major aviation hubs.
The hotels will operate under four IHCL brands: Taj, Vivanta, Gateway and Ginger. Under the partnership, Adani Airports will handle property development, while IHCL will manage hotel operations, targeting business travellers, tourists and passengers requiring accommodation during airport transits. The agreement also supports Adani’s wider strategy of developing integrated commercial and hospitality destinations around its airport network.

Eight Hotels Across Four Cities
The agreement includes three Taj hotels, two Vivanta properties, one Gateway hotel and two Ginger hotels. The portfolio covers luxury, upscale and midscale accommodation, allowing the companies to target different categories of travellers.
Mumbai will receive one Taj hotel at Terminal 2 of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. The property is already under construction and will add branded accommodation within the airport’s terminal development.
Lucknow will receive two properties, comprising a Vivanta and a Ginger hotel. Ahmedabad will also have two hotels, a Taj and a Vivanta, both of which are in advanced stages of construction.
Guwahati will account for the remaining three properties, including a Taj, a Gateway and a Ginger hotel. Together, the eight developments will provide accommodation alongside dining, meeting and event facilities, wellness services and recreational amenities.
The agreement does not disclose the individual room capacity of each hotel or a detailed opening schedule. However, most of the properties are expected to become operational within three to four years, according to reporting on the announcement.

Adani Airport City Expansion
The hotel agreement forms part of Adani Airports’ larger Airport City development programme. The company has established Adani Airport City Limited (AACL) to develop commercial and hospitality infrastructure around its airport assets.
The programme covers a land bank of more than 655 acres across six airports in five states, including nearly 440 acres in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai. During its first phase, Adani plans to invest more than ₹20,000 crore to develop approximately 22 million square feet across Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Jaipur and Guwahati.
Beyond hotels, the planned developments will incorporate retail outlets, offices, entertainment facilities, dining establishments and convention infrastructure. The objective is to create integrated destinations that serve passengers as well as businesses and residents in surrounding urban areas.
The IHCL agreement adds a major hospitality component to this development strategy, complementing the planned commercial and leisure facilities.

Airport Hospitality Growth
The partnership reflects the growing commercial importance of airport-linked developments as passenger traffic and business travel expand across India.
Jeet Adani, director of Adani Airport Holdings, said the collaboration would strengthen the hospitality ecosystem within the company’s Airport City developments.
IHCL Managing Director and CEO Puneet Chhatwal also highlighted the increasing role of airports as commercial and hospitality centres, The Hindu flagged.
For IHCL, the agreement expands its presence across key aviation markets through multiple hotel brands rather than concentrating exclusively on luxury accommodation. The combination of Taj, Vivanta, Gateway and Ginger will allow the company to serve different passenger requirements and price segments.
For Adani Airports, the agreement provides an established hospitality operator for its planned airport-led commercial districts. The eight hotels will therefore form part of a broader development strategy that seeks to generate commercial activity beyond traditional airport operations.
