KOLKATA- Emirates (EK) introduced its Airbus A350-900 aircraft on the Kolkata-Dubai route on Sunday, October 25, 2026. Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata (CCU), welcomed the aircraft with a ceremonial water cannon salute to mark its entry into the airline’s winter schedule.
The aircraft introduction coincides with Emirates increasing its weekly flights between Kolkata (CCU) and Dubai International Airport, Dubai (DXB), from 11 to 12. The expansion provides passengers from eastern India with another weekly flight option and strengthens access to Emirates’ international network through Dubai.

Emirates A350-900 Expands Kolkata-Dubai Connectivity
The Airbus A350-900 will operate Emirates’ daily EK570 and EK571 services between Dubai and Kolkata, replacing the Boeing 777-300ER previously assigned to these flights. The aircraft change forms part of the airline’s winter 2026 schedule, while additional weekly services continue to operate on selected days.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) marked the aircraft’s arrival with a traditional water cannon salute at Kolkata Airport. The welcome highlighted the addition of a new aircraft type to Emirates’ regular operations at the airport and the expansion of its services between the two cities.
Vikram Singh, Airport Director at Kolkata Airport, welcomed the development and congratulated the Emirates team and passengers. He said the arrival of the A350 and the increase in flight frequency reflected growing passenger demand and would strengthen international connectivity from eastern India.

Airbus A350-900 Replaces Boeing 777-300ER on Daily Flights
The deployment introduces Emirates’ Airbus A350-900 on the daily EK570 and EK571 services. The aircraft features a modern wide-body cabin designed to provide passengers with updated seating and onboard facilities.
The aircraft change also reflects Emirates’ broader efforts to deploy newer-generation aircraft across its network. Its introduction on the Kolkata-Dubai route gives passengers access to the A350 while maintaining the existing connection between eastern India and the airline’s Dubai hub.
The increase from 11 to 12 weekly flights adds another departure opportunity for passengers travelling between Kolkata and Dubai. The additional frequency can provide greater flexibility for travellers planning business trips, holidays and onward international journeys.

Dubai Remains an Important Gateway for Eastern India
Dubai plays a significant role in the commercial relationship between West Bengal, the wider eastern Indian region and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). Businesses across the region maintain trade links with the UAE in sectors including textiles, gold and jewellery manufacturing, leather exports, tea and information technology services.
Improved air connectivity can support these commercial relationships by providing more travel options for corporate executives, exporters, business delegations and other professionals travelling between Kolkata and the Gulf region.
The additional weekly service may also help accommodate demand from travellers who use Dubai for business meetings, trade-related visits and onward journeys to other international markets.

Emirates Network Offers Global Connections Through Dubai
Dubai International Airport (DXB) serves as a major connecting hub for Emirates passengers travelling beyond the UAE. From Kolkata, passengers can use the airline’s network to connect through Dubai to destinations across North America, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
The expanded Kolkata-Dubai schedule gives passengers another opportunity to begin these connecting journeys. Through coordinated onward flights, travellers can reach a broader range of international destinations without requiring a separate direct flight from Kolkata to every market.
For passengers from eastern India, the combination of an additional weekly frequency and the Airbus A350-900 provides another option on an established international route. The development also reinforces Kolkata Airport’s role in connecting the region with major global aviation hubs.
