LONDON- British Airways (BA) has announced two dedicated Avios-Only return services from London to Majorca and Crete for August 2027, giving members of its loyalty programme access to every seat on the flights using Avios. The airline will operate the services between London Heathrow Airport (LHR), Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) and Heraklion International Airport (HER), with departures scheduled for August 14 and return flights on August 21, 2027.
The new services offer return fares starting at 28,000 Avios plus £5 in economy and 49,000 Avios plus £40 in business class for Majorca, while Crete fares start at 33,500 Avios plus £5 and 60,000 Avios plus £40, respectively. Bookings open on October 22, 2026, exclusively for members of The British Airways Club, allowing travellers to secure reward seats for the peak Mediterranean summer holiday period.

Majorca Flight Details
British Airways will operate flight BA494 from London Heathrow to Palma on August 14, departing at 12:50 and arriving at 16:20 local time. The return service, BA495, will leave Palma on August 21 at 17:15 and arrive at Heathrow at 18:45.
Members can book a return journey in Euro Traveller for 28,000 Avios plus £5, or in Club Europe for 49,000 Avios plus £40. Both options include checked baggage, according to the airline’s announcement.
Majorca, part of Spain’s Balearic Islands, attracts holidaymakers with its beaches, coastal resorts, traditional villages and dining options.
The dedicated flight gives British Airways Club members an opportunity to use their accumulated loyalty points for travel during one of the busiest periods of the European summer holiday season.

Crete Flight Details
The second Avios-Only service will connect Heathrow with Heraklion, the principal gateway to Crete, Greece’s largest island. British Airways flight BA698 will depart London at 11:25 on August 14, arriving in Heraklion at 17:30 local time.
The return flight, BA697, is scheduled to leave Heraklion at 16:45 on August 21 and reach Heathrow at 18:50. Return reward fares start at 33,500 Avios plus £5 in Euro Traveller and 60,000 Avios plus £40 in Club Europe.
Crete offers a mix of beaches, historic sites, coastal towns and Greek cuisine, making it a popular destination for families and other leisure travellers.
By allocating every seat on the dedicated service to Avios bookings, British Airways is giving loyalty programme members access to a full flight of reward inventory rather than limiting redemptions to a smaller allocation of seats.

British Airways Avios-Only Benefits
British Airways introduced Avios-Only flights in 2023 to make reward travel more accessible on selected routes during busy holiday periods.
The airline said it has operated more than 50 such flights to destinations across Europe, the Caribbean, Africa and the Middle East since the initiative began.
Eligible British Airways American Express cardholders can also use Companion Vouchers on these services. The benefit allows a member travelling with a companion to book a second seat without additional Avios, subject to applicable taxes and charges, while eligible solo travellers can receive a 50% reduction in the Avios fare.
Colm Lacy, British Airways’ chief commercial officer, said the latest flights would give members more opportunities to use their Avios for Mediterranean holidays.
Adam Daniels, chief executive of IAG Loyalty, also highlighted the opportunity for families and friends to plan summer travel using reward currency.
The airline additionally offers a guaranteed minimum number of reward seats across its regular flights, giving members alternatives beyond the dedicated services.
Travellers can book the Majorca and Crete flights through the British Airways website from October 22, 2026.
