GURUGRAM- Air India (AI) will launch four weekly non-stop flights between Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi (DEL), and Kansai International Airport, Osaka (KIX), from 2 February 2027. The airline will operate the new route using its Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
The service will make Air India the only airline operating non-stop flights on the Delhi-Osaka route. The launch will expand its Japanese network beyond Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) and strengthen air connectivity between India and Japan.

Air India Expands Japan Network With Osaka Flights
Air India’s new Delhi-Osaka service will connect India’s capital with Osaka, one of Japan’s major metropolitan and commercial centres. The route will support growing demand for travel between the two countries, driven by tourism, business activity and closer cultural ties.
Osaka will become Air India’s second destination in Japan after Tokyo Haneda. The airline currently operates daily flights from Delhi to Tokyo and four weekly flights between Mumbai (BOM) and Tokyo, according to the announcement.
The new route will provide travellers with a direct option to reach the Kansai region of Japan without connecting through another airport. Osaka also serves as a gateway to nearby destinations, including Kyoto and Nara, making the service relevant to Indian tourists planning multi-city holidays.
The Delhi-Osaka flights will operate four times a week, adding another direct connection between India and Japan as travel demand continues to increase.

Delhi-Osaka Flight Schedule From February 2027
Air India has designed the schedule to provide overnight connectivity from Delhi to Osaka and a return service that reaches Delhi on the same day. The timings will also allow passengers to connect with destinations across the airline’s domestic and international network.
The outbound flight, AI360, will depart Delhi at 22:50 and arrive in Osaka at 09:50 the following day. The return flight, AI359, will leave Osaka at 11:50 and reach Delhi at 18:20.

Boeing 787-8 Offers Business and Economy Class
Air India will deploy its Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on the new route. The aircraft will feature 18 full-flat beds in Business Class and 241 seats in Economy Class, providing a total capacity of 259 passengers.
The Business Class configuration will allow passengers to rest in fully flat beds during the overnight journey from Delhi to Osaka. Economy Class will accommodate the majority of travellers using the service for holidays, business trips and visits to family or friends.
Using the Boeing 787-8 will also allow Air India to introduce the route with an aircraft already operating within its long-haul network. The airline has not specified a separate Premium Economy cabin for this service in the announced configuration.

Flexible Travel Between Osaka and Tokyo
The new service will allow passengers to plan open-jaw itineraries, in which they arrive in one city and depart from another. Travellers could fly from Delhi to Osaka and return to India from Tokyo, or follow the reverse itinerary.
This option can reduce the need to return to the original arrival city before flying home. It also gives travellers more flexibility when planning holidays across multiple Japanese destinations.
Osaka, Kyoto and Tokyo form part of Japan’s popular Golden Route. Visitors can combine Osaka’s food culture and urban attractions with Kyoto’s historic temples and traditional districts before continuing to Tokyo.
The additional direct connection from Delhi could make these itineraries easier to plan for Indian travellers, particularly those seeking to visit several destinations during a single trip.

Japan Records Strong Growth in Indian Visitors
Japan has become an increasingly popular destination for Indian travellers. The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) recorded 315,100 Indian visitor arrivals in 2025, a 35.2% increase from 233,061 in 2024. The 2025 total was also nearly 80% above the pre-pandemic level recorded in 2019.
The increase reflects growing interest in Japan’s leisure attractions, cuisine, cultural experiences and seasonal tourism. Business travel and stronger people-to-people connections between India and Japan also contribute to demand.
Air India’s Delhi-Osaka service will add another direct travel option as this market expands. By connecting Delhi with Kansai through four weekly flights, the airline will give passengers more flexibility when planning trips to Japan and onward journeys across its wider network.
