LONDON- British Airways (BA) has unveiled its redesigned A380 cabins, introducing new seats, upgraded interiors and an all-new First suite as part of a major refurbishment programme.
The first refurbished Airbus A380 is expected to enter service in the coming months, beginning a wider transformation of the airline’s flagship long-haul fleet and customer experience.

British Airways Transforms Its A380 Fleet
British Airways is introducing a completely redesigned cabin experience on its retrofitted A380 aircraft, covering all four passenger cabins from First to economy.
The refurbishment includes new seats in every cabin, updated interiors, improved dining and enhanced amenities. The airline said the changes are designed to provide greater comfort and create a more premium experience throughout the journey.
Sean Doyle, Chairman and CEO of British Airways, described the programme as one of the airline’s most significant aircraft transformations. He said the changes extend beyond the new First suite to include redesigned interiors, upgraded dining, amenities and service delivery.
The redesigned aircraft will retain British Airways’ herringbone design across the cabins. The airline has also refreshed galleys, stairways and other areas to create a consistent interior identity. The design builds on a concept introduced across the carrier’s short-haul fleet in 2024 and is now being applied to its long-haul cabins.

British Airways A380 Cabin Layout
The refurbished A380 will feature four cabins across its two decks. The aircraft will have 12 First seats, 106 Club World seats, 84 World Traveller Plus seats and 215 World Traveller seats.
This gives the aircraft a total of 417 passenger seats, with the largest share dedicated to World Traveller economy class.
World Traveller Gets More Comfort
British Airways is upgrading its World Traveller economy cabin with larger entertainment screens, wider seats and improved bedding.
The new pillows feature a contemporary herringbone pattern and additional filling for greater support. Customers will also receive upgraded blankets in British Airways’ signature blue, featuring red Speedmarque detailing.
The changes are intended to improve comfort during long-haul flights while giving the economy cabin a more modern appearance.
World Traveller Plus Adds Privacy
World Traveller Plus, the airline’s premium economy cabin, will receive new seats with larger entertainment screens and privacy wings.
Passengers will also benefit from new bedding and pillows designed to provide a more comfortable environment during long flights.
British Airways is introducing a reusable amenity kit in the form of a tote bag. The kit includes a Dr.PAWPAW moisturising balm along with travel essentials such as a dental kit, socks and an eye mask.
The new World Traveller Plus amenity kit and bedding will be introduced across the long-haul fleet through a phased rollout in November.

Club World Receives Updated Club Suite
The refurbished A380 will feature an updated version of British Airways’ Club Suite business class product.
The refreshed suite introduces a contemporary colour palette based on the airline’s blue, red and cream colours. British Airways has also added storage and improved functionality based on customer feedback.
The A380 will have 106 Club Suite seats across the entire upper deck. The business class cabin is divided into four zones and includes dedicated dwell areas, Club Kitchens and redesigned galley spaces.
Passengers will also receive new Club World amenity kits in four designs created by British artists through art platform Rise Art. The kits contain products from British wellness brand anatomē.

New British Airways First Suite Debuts
The most significant change on the refurbished A380 is the introduction of British Airways’ new First suite.
The suite has been designed around privacy and comfort, with an interior intended to create the atmosphere of a modern luxury hotel. British Airways said the product combines home-style comforts with British design elements.
The centre seats can be converted into a shared space by opening the divider between them. Stowable tables also allow passengers travelling together to use a shared dining arrangement known as “buddy dining.”
The new First amenity kit was developed with British luxury heritage brand Swaine. Inspired by luggage used by early air travellers, the kit is available in royal blue and cream and contains skincare products from Wildsmith.
First Class Introduces Hotel-Style Sleep
British Airways is also upgrading the sleep experience in First Class.
Passengers will receive a woven day blanket with a herringbone design, a navy-blue cushion and new navy sleepwear featuring the airline’s bespoke tartan. Slippers will also be provided. The sleepwear and bedding became available on outbound long-haul flights from London Heathrow from October 1, while the new First amenity kit follows from October 6.
When passengers are ready to sleep, cabin crew will prepare the suite with a luxury mattress, lightweight cotton duvet and a redesigned pillow. The products are intended to improve softness, support and rest during the flight.

British Airways Upgrades First Class Dining
The airline has introduced a refreshed First dining service featuring new dishes and greater choice based on British produce.
The new “From the Grill” concept allows passengers to build their preferred meal from premium proteins, sides and sauces. Options include British roast rack of lamb and grilled salmon, alongside Signature Mains.
A bespoke minibar is integrated into the First suite, providing passengers with access to refreshments and premium snacks.
The dining service also includes new stoneware and fine bone china, premium Champagne such as Bollinger La Grande Année, a curated gin selection and Showerings triple vintage cider. British Airways has also introduced specially designed cutlery and glassware as part of the restaurant-style presentation.
First Service Gets New Training
The cabin transformation is supported by an updated First Service Specialist training programme for First-trained cabin crew.
The programme focuses on personalised service and helps crew respond to individual passenger preferences while maintaining the attentive hospitality expected in First class.
British Airways is therefore combining physical cabin upgrades with changes to service delivery rather than relying only on new seats and amenities.

A380 Retrofit Part of Wider Customer Investment
The A380 refurbishment forms part of a broader British Airways investment in the customer experience.
The airline has also announced the next stage of its Heathrow lounge transformation. The programme will eventually see every British Airways lounge at Heathrow redesigned, with the latest Terminal 5 lounge representing the first phase of the wider plan.
British Airways said its wider investment also covers new aircraft, technology and operational improvements, with the goal of improving the customer journey across multiple stages of travel.
The refurbished A380 will therefore serve as a major component of the airline’s broader effort to modernise its long-haul customer experience.
