TOKYO— All Nippon Airways (ANA) has introduced the second aircraft in its three-jet Pokémon program for 2026, sending the new Green Pokémon Jet on its first commercial international flight to Honolulu.
The Boeing 787-9, registered JA923A, entered scheduled service on September 18 after an unveiling at Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND).
The aircraft operated ANA flight NH186 from Tokyo Haneda (HND) to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL), marking the beginning of its international deployment.
The flight carried 246 passengers and seven infants and covered about 3,848 miles (6,192 kilometers) in just over seven hours.
ANA Green Pokémon 787 Jet
The Green Pokémon Jet forms the second part of ANA’s 2026 Pokémon aircraft series, following the Red Pokémon Jet that began domestic operations in July.
The third aircraft, a Blue Pokémon Jet based on a Boeing 737-800, is scheduled to join ANA’s domestic network during winter 2026.
The 787-9 carries a Grass-type Pokémon theme, with Pikachu and first-partner Pokémon from several generations featured across the fuselage.
The design includes Bulbasaur, Chikorita, Treecko, Turtwig, Snivy, Chespin, Rowlet, Grookey and Sprigatito, along with Pokémon from the upcoming Pokémon Winds and Pokémon Waves titles.
ANA launched the three-aircraft program to mark the 30th anniversary of Pokémon and the 40th anniversary of its international flights.
The airline says the project also continues a partnership that dates back to 1998, when ANA introduced the world’s first Pokémon Jet.
International Routes
The Green Pokémon Jet is primarily assigned to international operations through March 27, 2027.
ANA has listed 15 principal routes from Tokyo Haneda and Tokyo Narita, covering destinations in North America, Asia and Australia, although aircraft assignments can change depending on operating conditions.
From Haneda, the aircraft is scheduled for potential use on routes to Honolulu, Seattle, Vancouver, Sydney, Manila, Singapore, Delhi, Bangkok, Jakarta and Kuala Lumpur.
From Narita, the listed destinations include Bangkok, Singapore, Jakarta, Perth and Mumbai.
The Green Pokémon Jet will also extend the theme into the cabin. ANA has prepared special headrest covers, paper cups, cocktail napkins and background music, while limited Green Pokémon Jet stickers are planned for passengers.
ANA Pokémon Partnership
ANA’s current Pokémon program builds on an earlier fleet that included the Pikachu Jet NH and Eevee Jet NH.
Those aircraft entered international service in 2023, several years after ANA ended its previous Pokémon Jet era in 2016.
The airline’s first Pokémon aircraft entered service in 1998 with a Boeing 747-400D and two Boeing 767-300s.
By the end of January 1999, the first three aircraft had carried more than one million passengers, establishing a long-running aviation partnership between ANA and Pokémon, Simple Flying flagged.
With the Red aircraft already flying, the Green 787-9 now provides the program with an international platform, while the forthcoming Blue 737-800 will complete ANA’s 2026 Red, Green and Blue aircraft lineup.
ANA’s official schedule lists the Green Jet’s international routes through March 27, 2027.
