BUDAPEST- Wizz Air (W6) is opening its 10th operational base in Romania at Brașov-Ghimbav International Airport / Brașov (GHV), with one Airbus A321neo aircraft allocated from December 2026. The expansion will support 4 new routes and strengthen the airline’s network in central Romania.
Wizz Air will launch services from Brașov (GHV) to Chisinau, Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden, Barcelona and Madrid, while also increasing operations to Nuremberg.
The new services are scheduled to begin between October and December 2026, giving passengers more direct connections to European destinations.
Wizz Air Expands Brașov Operations With 4 New Routes
Wizz Air is expanding its presence at Brașov-Ghimbav International Airport with the opening of a new operational base. The airline will allocate one latest-generation Airbus A321neo aircraft to Brașov in December 2026, supporting the launch of 4 new routes and increasing capacity on an existing connection.
Wizz Air began operating at Brașov in August 2023, shortly after the opening of the airport. Since then, the airline has carried more than 800,000 passengers from Brașov and continued to expand its direct international network.
It will become the airline’s 10th operational base in the country after Bucharest Băneasa, Bucharest Otopeni, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Iași, Sibiu, Suceava, Târgu Mureș and Timișoara.
Wizz Air has described Romania as a strategic market and has continued investing in route development, aircraft capacity and regional connectivity.
New Brașov Flights Starting in Late 2026
The 4 new services will connect Brașov with destinations in Moldova, Germany and Spain. Flights to Nuremberg will also operate more frequently as part of the wider expansion.

The new Chisinau service will provide a direct connection between central Romania and Moldova.
Barcelona and Madrid will strengthen Brașov’s links with Spain, while Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden and the expanded Nuremberg service will increase access to Germany.
The fares listed in the announcement start at RON 99. Wizz Air makes its fares available through its official website and WIZZ mobile application, with final prices depending on availability and travel dates.
Airbus A321neo Supports New Brașov Base
The aircraft allocated to Brașov is a latest-generation Airbus A321neo. Its deployment will provide additional capacity for the new services and reinforce Wizz Air’s long-term presence at the airport.
Wizz Air said the aircraft, new routes and a total of 15 WIZZ connections from Brașov will further strengthen its position in the region.
The expansion is aimed at meeting demand for convenient and affordable direct travel from central Romania.
The new base also gives the airline a dedicated aircraft at Brașov rather than relying only on capacity positioned elsewhere in its network. This provides a stronger operational foundation for future network development at the airport.
Wizz Air’s 10th Romanian Base
The opening of the Brașov base comes shortly after Wizz Air celebrated 20 years of operations in Romania.
The airline entered the Romanian market in 2006 and has steadily expanded its presence across the country.
At its 20th anniversary in July 2026, Wizz Air said it had established nine operational bases in Romania and offered more than 235 routes from 14 Romanian airports, connecting passengers with 83 destinations across 26 countries.
The 10th base at Brașov increases the airline’s Romanian base count to 10 and further expands its footprint at airports outside the country’s capital.
Wizz Air currently employs more than 1,600 people in Romania, according to its July 2026 anniversary statement.
According to The Romania Journal, Wizz Air has continued to expand its Romanian network as demand for direct European travel grows.

Wizz Air also thanked passengers and local authorities for their trust and cooperation. The airline said continued investment in aircraft and routes would support more affordable and reliable travel options while improving connectivity across the region.
