LONDON— A seven-year-old aviation enthusiast from South London has received an unexpected gift from Emirates (EK) after writing a personal letter to Sir Tim Clark, the airline’s president.
The young boy became fascinated with Emirates after seeing its advertisements and travelling with his family through Dubai International Airport (DXB) on a holiday to the Maldives.
The family’s journey with Emirates left a strong impression on the young passenger, who was already fascinated by Airbus A380 aircraft flying over his home.
After returning from the holiday, he decided to write directly to Clark and sent the handwritten letter with a Polaroid photograph taken during the flight.
Young Passenger Writes Personal Letter
The boy’s father, Mark Adams, said his son had developed a strong interest in aircraft before the family trip. Emirates’ advertising around London further encouraged that interest, and the seven-year-old specifically asked his parents if they could fly with the airline.
The family travelled in economy class, but Adams said the service impressed them throughout the journey.
A stopover in Dubai also gave the children an opportunity to experience the airport, strengthening the boy’s view that Emirates offered the kind of flying experience he admired.
After returning home, the boy wrote a letter to Clark and signed it himself. His father scanned the original without correcting the child’s writing and sent it to Emirates along with the family photograph.
Emirates Sends Surprise A380 Models
Several weeks later, the family received an unexpected FedEx delivery notification from Emirates.
The package arrived the next morning and contained a personal letter from Clark along with two Airbus A380 model aircraft.
Emirates had prepared one model for the seven-year-old and another for his four-year-old brother. The younger child had not been mentioned in the original letter, making the second model an additional surprise for the family.
Adams said the response demonstrated how a small personal gesture from a senior aviation executive can leave a lasting impression.
The boys were delighted with the gifts, while their father viewed the response as an example of how aviation leaders can encourage young people interested in the industry.
Aviation Dream Takes Shape For Young Pilot
The experience has also strengthened the seven-year-old’s ambition to pursue a career in aviation.
He has already delivered a school presentation about the Airbus A380 and now talks about becoming a pilot and eventually flying or travelling on the aircraft’s upper deck.
His interest extends beyond aircraft themselves, as he has begun asking his parents about pilot salaries and the cost of flying in first class.
His father has also explained that becoming a pilot would require strong skills in subjects such as mathematics and physics.
The family now hopes to visit the UAE, with the Burj Khalifa, theme parks and attractions in Abu Dhabi among the places they would like to see, Khaleej Times reported.
For the young aviation enthusiast, however, the two A380 models and a personal letter from Emirates have already turned a simple family holiday into a memorable step toward his aviation ambitions.
