DUBAI- Emirates Airline (EK) has resumed limited flights between Dubai (DXB) and Kuwait City (KWI), restoring a key Gulf connection after an extended suspension linked to regional security concerns.
Flight EK857 operates from Dubai International Airport (DXB) at 2:55 pm and reaches Kuwait International Airport (KWI) at 3:45 pm local time, marking Emirates’ return with one daily service.
Emirates Restores Kuwait Link With One Daily Flight
Emirates has restarted flights between Dubai and Kuwait after suspending the route amid regional conflict and disruption across Gulf aviation. The resumed operation remains well below the airline’s schedule before the disruption.
The airline currently operates EK857 as its sole service between the two cities. The flight leaves Dubai International Airport at 2:55 pm and arrives at Kuwait International Airport at 3:45 pm local time.
Before the suspension, Emirates operated four daily flights on the Dubai-Kuwait route. The services were EK853, EK855, EK857 and EK859.
The reduction to one daily flight represents a limited restoration rather than a full return to the previous schedule.
Regional Security Disrupted Gulf Air Travel
Emirates suspended its Kuwait services as security concerns affected air travel across the Gulf. The airline’s website still showed no Emirates-operated Dubai-Kuwait flights as recently as August 14.
The disruption also affected other UAE-Kuwait services. Emirates, Etihad Airways, Air Arabia and flydubai have all adjusted or cancelled flights at different points during the recent period of regional unrest.
Airlines have continued to review schedules as operating conditions change, making flight status checks particularly important for passengers travelling between the UAE and Kuwait.
Etihad Also Maintains Reduced Kuwait Schedule
Emirates is not the only major UAE airline to reduce operations to Kuwait.
Etihad Airways (EY) was also operating a limited schedule by mid-August, with one daily flight between Abu Dhabi and Kuwait. Flight EY653 departs Zayed International Airport (AUH) at 8:10 am and arrives at Kuwait International Airport (KWI) at 9 am local time.
The limited schedules of both Emirates and Etihad Airways show that connectivity between the UAE and Kuwait has not yet returned to the levels seen before the disruption.
Kuwait Airlines Continue UAE Connectivity
Kuwait Airways (KU) and Jazeera Airways (J9) have continued operating several daily flights between Kuwait and the UAE despite the broader disruption.
Their continued operations provide passengers with additional options while Emirates and Etihad maintain reduced schedules.
Emirates had also suspended services to Bahrain during the disruption. The airline resumed limited Bahrain operations on August 15 with one daily flight, compared with three daily services before the disruption.
The gradual restoration of Emirates services to Kuwait and Bahrain indicates a cautious approach to rebuilding its Gulf network while airlines continue to assess operating conditions.
Passengers Face Continued Schedule Uncertainty
The return of EK857 gives passengers another direct option between Dubai and Kuwait, but the reduced frequency means capacity remains significantly below pre-disruption levels.
Travellers should verify their flight status directly with the airline before leaving for the airport, as Gulf schedules remain subject to operational and security-related changes.
