SYDNEY— Vietjet Air (VJ) has opened ticket sales for its upcoming flights from Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport (WSI), giving travelers in western Sydney a new direct option to Vietnam from January 2027.
The Vietnamese carrier will initially operate two weekly flights between WSI and Ho Chi Minh City (SGN), with the frequency scheduled to increase to three flights per week from March 2027.
Tickets are now available from AUD 299 one-way, while Vietjet has also launched a limited-time promotional offer for selected fares.

Vietjet Launches Western Sydney Flights
The first Vietjet service is scheduled for Sunday, January 10, 2027, with flights operating every Sunday and Wednesday.
The services will use Airbus A330 aircraft configured with 377 seats, giving the route significant capacity from its launch.
The aircraft will arrive at WSI at 10:00 a.m. before departing for Ho Chi Minh City at 12:05 p.m. A third weekly service will join the schedule in March, expanding the number of direct travel options between Western Sydney and Vietnam.
The route is expected to appeal strongly to both leisure travelers and people visiting friends and relatives.
More than 500,000 people traveled between New South Wales and Vietnam in 2025, while Western Sydney is home to more than 70,000 people of Vietnamese heritage.

Bangkok Flights Planned
Vietjet’s expansion at WSI will not stop with Vietnam. Vietjet Thailand is planning to introduce four weekly flights between Western Sydney and Bangkok from November 2027, subject to regulatory approvals.
The planned Bangkok service would give WSI another direct Southeast Asian connection and strengthen its role as a new international gateway for Greater Sydney.
Precise schedules for the Thailand route will be announced closer to its planned launch.
The airport began cargo operations on July 27, 2026, while passenger flights are scheduled to begin on October 25.
Vietjet will become one of the early international carriers at the airport, following planned services from airlines including Singapore Airlines and Air New Zealand.
