COLOGNE- Lufthansa (LH) was forced to return one of its long-haul flights to Munich Airport (MUC) after the crew identified a technical issue involving the aircraft’s cabin pressurization system shortly after departure. The flight had been scheduled to operate non-stop to Beijing Capital International Airport (PEK).
The Airbus A350-900 operating Lufthansa (LH) Flight LH722 safely landed back at Munich Airport (MUC) after spending more than two hours airborne while the crew completed operational checklists and assessed the malfunction. No injuries were reported, and passengers were provided assistance after returning to the terminal.

Lufthansa Flight LH722 departed Munich Airport for its scheduled service to Beijing Capital International Airport aboard an Airbus A350-900 registered as D-AIXN. The aircraft pushed back from Terminal 2, Gate H18, before departing from Runway 26L for the approximately 10-hour journey to China.
Shortly after takeoff, while climbing out and turning east toward its planned long-haul route, the flight crew detected a technical issue affecting the aircraft’s cabin pressurization system.
As a precaution, the crew stopped the aircraft’s climb at approximately 17,000 feet instead of continuing to its planned cruising altitude. Maintaining a lower altitude allowed the pilots to evaluate the system while following established operational procedures.
