DUBAI- Emirates (EK) continues to reshape its Airbus A380 network. The carrier has confirmed the superjumbo will not fly from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Glasgow Airport (GLA), Hong Kong International Airport (HKG), Kansai International Airport (KIX), Perth Airport (PER), or Václav Havel Airport Prague (PRG) in the critical summer month of August.
None of the 5 routes currently sees the double decker. Most were due to welcome it back in August, and Perth on July 27, but the return has been postponed again because of the ongoing war in Iran.
Emirates Postpones A380 Return to September 1
Emirates disclosed the change in a schedule update filed with Cirium Diio, OAG, and other platforms over the weekend. More adaptations are expected in the coming weeks.
The latest plan places the A380 back on all 5 markets from September 1. A further move to October 1 would not be a surprise, and whether that happens depends largely on the war. Several other Emirates routes have already seen the type return recently.
Perth stands apart on timing. The superjumbo was due back there on July 27, days ahead of the other four markets, before the latest revision pushed it to September 1 alongside the rest.

Hong Kong Nonstop Flights Remain Suspended
Hong Kong is the exception in the group. Emirates still flies the A380 from Dubai to Hong Kong via Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), using fifth freedom rights between Bangkok and Hong Kong. The equipment simply does not operate nonstop from Dubai to Hong Kong at present.
From October 1, Emirates has scheduled 3 daily double-deckers to the Pearl of the Orient: two nonstop and one via Bangkok.
The carrier’s schedule submission to Cirium shows that A380 frequency at this level was last available in 2020.
Glasgow Waits Longer for Emirates A380 Service
The Gulf giant has served Glasgow since April 2004. Across the following 22 years, it has deployed the Airbus A330-200, A340-300, A350-900, A380, Boeing 777-200LR, and 777-300ER on the route, with some of those types appearing only briefly.
Emirates previously offered up to two daily flights to the Scottish airport, a level last available in early 2020.
After a one-off service in 2014, the A380 began regular Glasgow operations in 2019. The COVID-19 pandemic then interrupted the route, and the type was not used properly again until 2023.
As reported by Simple Flying, Flightradar24 data shows the superjumbo was last seen at Glasgow on March 12, 2026, which was not long after the war started. The 312-seat A350-900 and 332-seat 777-300ER have covered the route since.
The A380 is due to return on September 1, although this is likely to be pushed back again. When it finally happens, daily seats for sale will rise from 664 to 1,038. Capacity will jump by a considerable 56% within 24 hours.
EK27 will leave Dubai at 7:50 AM and reach Scotland at 12:40 PM local time. EK28 will depart Glasgow at 2:40 PM and land back in Dubai at 1:05 AM the next day, local time. The schedule is built to deliver the strongest possible connectivity across Asia-Pacific in particular.
Emirates A380 Network Grows in September
Assuming the 5 routes do see the A380 in September, Emirates will operate 82 daily superjumbo departures from Dubai. That accounts for more than a third of the airline’s total activity at its hub, spread across 53 destinations.
Perhaps unexpectedly, superjumbo services are set to rise from the 77 daily departures available last September.
The growth comes partly from the double-decker’s return to Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) in October 2025 and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) in February 2026. Delhi is not included in the count, as the type is down to fly there only from October.
Added frequencies also lift the total. Emirates has more A380 flights to Bangkok, Ngurah Rai (Bali) International Airport (DPS), Singapore Changi Airport (SIN), and Zurich Airport (ZRH). Set against those gains, A380 service has been reduced to Brisbane, Copenhagen, and London Gatwick compared with September 2025.
