DUBAI- Emirates (EK) is ready to introduce its flagship Airbus A380 services on the Hyderabad route as the Dubai-based airline marks 25 years of operations in the city.
The proposal was discussed during a meeting held on Saturday between Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Emirates representatives. Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (HYD) is expected to benefit from the proposed capacity expansion if the plan moves forward.
The meeting also focused on increasing Emirates flight frequencies from Hyderabad Airport, attracting Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) investments to Telangana, and strengthening cooperation beyond aviation.
The discussions highlighted the state’s ambition to position itself as an emerging aviation hub while expanding international connectivity.

Emirates Proposes A380 Operations on Hyderabad Route
Dubai-based Emirates has expressed its willingness to deploy its flagship Airbus A380 aircraft on the Hyderabad route. The proposal was conveyed by Mohammed Sarhan, Vice-President (India), Emirates, during his meeting with Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Saturday.
The discussions coincided with Emirates completing 25 years of operations in Hyderabad, one of the airline’s key destinations in India.
Deploying the Airbus A380 would significantly increase passenger capacity on the Hyderabad route and further strengthen the airline’s presence in the market.
The Chief Minister welcomed the proposal and urged Emirates to expand its flight frequencies from Hyderabad to meet the rising demand for international travel.
Increasing capacity and additional services would improve connectivity between Hyderabad and Dubai while supporting continued passenger growth.

Telangana Invites Emirates to Invest in MRO
During the meeting, the Chief Minister invited Emirates to establish Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facilities at the proposed airports in Warangal and Adilabad.
The proposal forms part of Telangana’s broader strategy to position itself as an emerging aviation hub by attracting investments in aviation infrastructure and aircraft maintenance.
The Chief Minister assured Emirates that the state government would support such investments by facilitating approvals and providing the necessary infrastructure for flight operations.
Developing MRO facilities could strengthen Telangana’s aviation ecosystem, support future airport development, and create new employment opportunities within the sector.
The discussions also extended beyond aviation. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy requested Emirates to sponsor training programmes for athletes at the recently launched Gachibowli Sports University.
According to an official release, Mohammed Sarhan responded positively to the request, indicating the airline’s willingness to consider supporting sports development initiatives in Telangana.

A380 Strengthens Hyderabad’s Connectivity
The proposed Airbus A380 deployment reflects Emirates’ long-term commitment to Hyderabad after serving the city for 25 years.
If introduced, the aircraft would provide additional seating capacity on one of the airline’s important India routes while supporting growing passenger demand.
The meeting also reinforced cooperation between Emirates and the Telangana government across aviation infrastructure, international connectivity, and investment opportunities.
As reported by The Hindu Businessline, the discussions demonstrate the state’s efforts to attract global aviation partners while expanding Hyderabad’s role as an international aviation gateway.
