MADRID— Singapore Airlines (SQ) has opened bookings for its new Madrid service, giving travelers access to an unusually large number of Business Class award seats ahead of the route’s launch in October 2026.
The carrier’s return to Madrid Airport (MAD) marks its first direct presence in the Spanish capital in more than two decades.
The new route strengthens Singapore Airlines’ European network and creates fresh redemption opportunities for KrisFlyer members.
Early booking data shows strong availability across the winter 2026/27 season, making Madrid one of the airline’s most accessible long-haul award destinations.

Singapore Airlines Madrid Route Launch After 22 Years
Singapore Airlines announced the Madrid service earlier this year as part of its continued European expansion strategy. The airline will operate the route five times weekly using Airbus A350-900 Long Haul aircraft, with flights operating via Barcelona.
Services begin on October 26, 2026, reconnecting Singapore with Spain’s capital after a 22-year absence. The route becomes the airline’s 15th destination in Europe and expands travel options for both leisure and business passengers.
The schedule includes a brief stop in Barcelona in both directions before continuing to Madrid. Passengers are expected to remain onboard during transit, similar to several other one-stop Singapore Airlines long-haul services.

Award Seat Availability Across Winter Schedule
One of the most notable features of the new route is the generous amount of Business Class award inventory loaded into the reservation system. Singapore Airlines has released 332 Saver Business Class redemption seats during the first five months of operations.
Many flights currently offer two or three immediately confirmable Saver award seats, providing excellent opportunities for couples and families planning travel in advance. Availability is particularly strong from January through March 2027.
February 2027 stands out as the best month for redemption travelers, with approximately 100 Saver Business Class seats available across the schedule.
The carrier has allocated a dedicated award inventory bucket for Madrid, separate from Barcelona-only bookings.
This distinction means travelers may find Business Class award space on Madrid itineraries even when the same flights show limited or no availability for Barcelona passengers.
The strategy increases redemption flexibility while supporting demand for the new destination.

KrisFlyer Redemption Value Award Seat Availability Guide
Business Class Saver awards on the Madrid route require 108,500 KrisFlyer miles each way. Travelers can also benefit from relatively low taxes and fees compared with other major European gateways.
Flights departing Madrid attract taxes of approximately EUR 25, significantly lower than charges commonly associated with airports such as London Heathrow. The lower surcharge improves the overall value proposition for frequent flyers redeeming miles.
Singapore Airlines will deploy its Airbus A350 Long Haul aircraft featuring the airline’s 2013 Business Class product in a 1-2-1 cabin configuration, Mainly Miles flagged.
Every seat converts into a fully flat bed, offering a premium experience on the nearly 15-hour journey between Singapore and Spain.
The combination of strong award availability, competitive redemption rates, and low departure taxes positions Madrid as one of the most attractive new KrisFlyer redemption opportunities in Europe.
As bookings continue, travelers seeking premium cabin awards may find the best availability by securing seats early, particularly before peak summer demand emerges.
