MUMBAI— Air India (AI) and Singapore Airlines (SQ) have taken a significant step toward deeper commercial integration by signing a commercial cooperation framework agreement aimed at progressing toward a joint business agreement. The signing took place in Mumbai on 16 January 2026 and reflects a strategic intent to strengthen air connectivity between India and Singapore (SIN).
The agreement establishes a structured pathway for the two Star Alliance carriers to expand cooperation across network planning, customer experience, and commercial alignment. The agreement outlines plans to progressively enhance frequent flyer privileges beyond existing Star Alliance benefits. Members of Air India’s Maharaja Club and Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer programs may see expanded earning and redemption opportunities as cooperation deepens.
Corporate travel is another key focus area within the framework. The airlines will evaluate greater cross-participation in corporate travel programs, which could deliver improved fare structures, broader inventory access, and streamlined contracting for business travelers.
