SINGAPORE– Qatar Airways (QR) is set to deploy its flagship Airbus A380 on the Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) – Doha Hamad International (DOH) route from mid-January 2026, introducing First Class for the first time.
At the same time, the carrier will remove its widely promoted “Qsuite guarantee” on one of its three daily services, meaning Business Class passengers on that flight will receive a different cabin product.

Qatar Airways A380 to Singapore
From 12 January 2026 through 28 March 2026, Qatar’s flight QR947/948 will be operated by the A380 instead of the usual Airbus A350. The change is notable as Singapore has until now been one of QR’s few destinations served exclusively with Qsuite Business Class.
This shift brings in 517 seats and the coveted First-Class cabin but disables Qsuite on that service.
The only exception to this winter schedule is between 26 January and 21 February, when the normal A350 service is expected to continue. The airline retains its standard A350 flights on QR945/943/944/942, which will continue to feature Qsuite.
Travelers who specifically book QR947/948 should be aware that the Business Class will feature the Collins Diamond seat rather than Qsuite.

Qatar A350 vs A380: Cabin Experience Change
The key positive is the introduction of First Class on the SIN-DOH route for the first time, offering a premium experience previously unavailable on this sector.
On the flip side, Business Class customers on the swapped flight lose the Qsuite configuration—renowned for its sliding doors, double-bed options, and quad-seating for groups—and instead receive the upper-deck A380 Business cabin layout without doors and the older seat format.
While this cabin is still lie-flat and comfortable, aviation analysts note it lacks the privacy and versatility of Qsuite.
The aircraft type change also brings the A380’s signature onboard bar and social space, which may offset some disappointment for business travellers on that specific flight.
However, for those whose primary interest is the Qsuite experience, booking one of the unaffected daily services remains essential during this period.

Network Implication and Strategy
The move signals that Qatar Airways is willing to flex aircraft types to match demand and introduce its First-Class product to new markets.
Deploying the A380 to Singapore is a strategic upgrade, albeit with the caveat of a product substitution for part of the network. The decision may reflect capacity management, seasonal travel demand, and aircraft availability constraints.
For Singapore travellers, the change offers expanded premium cabin options—but with the trade-off of product consistency for Business Class flyers. Here’s what travelers can expect:
ChatGPT said:
- Enhanced comfort and sense of indulgence compared to Business Class.
- Eight-seat, spacious cabin with luxurious finishes.
- Premium dining and fine wines/champagne.
- Access to Qatar Premium Lounge and Qantas First Lounge in Singapore.
- Al Safwa First Class Lounge access in Doha during transit

Bottom Line
Qatar Airways’ decision to bring the A380 to Singapore introduces First Class to the route and increases capacity, but it comes at the cost of withdrawing the Qsuite guarantee on the specific QR947/948 service for the winter period.
Passengers prioritising the Qsuite experience should carefully choose their flight, while those seeking First Class now have a new option on the SIN-DOH-London/Europe-bound network.
