NEW DELHI- Air India (AI) has announced a significant expansion of its regional flight operations, introducing additional services to Bangkok, Colombo, and Kathmandu effective July 7, 2025.
The national carrier’s strategic move addresses the surging passenger demand across these key South and Southeast Asian destinations while strengthening its position as a major regional connectivity hub.
Air India New Flights from July 2025
Kathmandu
The airline will launch its sixth daily flight between Delhi (DEL) and Kathmandu (KTM), marking a substantial increase in capacity on this popular route.
Flight AI2231 will depart Delhi (DEL) at 2100 hours, arriving in Kathmandu (KTM) at 2300 hours. The return service AI2232 will operate from 0630 hours to 0815 hours the following day.
This expansion increases Air India’s weekly frequency from 35 to 42 flights, providing travellers with enhanced scheduling flexibility.
Colombo
Air India (AI) will introduce a second daily flight between Delhi (DEL) and Colombo (CMB), effectively doubling its weekly operations from seven to fourteen flights.
The new AI277 service will depart Delhi (DEL) at 0325 hours, reaching Colombo (CMB) at 0715 hours, with the return flight AI278 scheduled from 0820 hours to 1155 hours.
This significant capacity increase reflects the growing travel demand between India’s capital and Sri Lanka’s commercial hub.
Bangkok
The airline will add a third daily flight between Mumbai (BOM) and Bangkok (BKK), increasing weekly frequency from thirteen to eighteen flights.
Flight AI2340 will depart Mumbai (BOM) at 0400 hours, arriving in Bangkok (BKK) at 1010 hours. Flight AI2339 will operate the return sector from 1115 hours to 1425 hours.
This enhancement positions Air India (AI) to better serve the growing business and leisure travel market between India’s financial capital and Thailand’s tourism gateway.
Aircraft Configuration
The additional flights to Kathmandu (KTM) and Bangkok (BKK) will utilise Air India’s premium A320neo aircraft featuring three-class cabin configurations.
These aircraft include Premium Economy Class seating, delivering enhanced comfort and service standards that align with the airline’s full-service positioning in the regional market.
The expanded operations provide seamless one-stop connectivity between these regional destinations and Air India’s extensive long-haul network spanning North America, Europe, and the Far East.
This connectivity advantage positions the airline as a preferred choice for international travellers requiring efficient transit options through India.

Capacity Deployment
The network expansion will deploy over 7,000 additional seats across the 3 enhanced routes, representing a substantial capacity injection into Air India’s regional operations.
Following implementation, the airline will operate 42 weekly flights to Kathmandu, 28 weekly flights to Colombo, and 46 weekly flights to Bangkok.
Travellers can now book these additional flights through all Air India channels, including the airline’s website, mobile application, airport ticketing offices, contact centres, and authorised travel agents worldwide.
