LONDON- The United Kingdom (UK) has announced comprehensive increases to foreign work visa fees, set to take effect from April 9, 2025, impacting various visa categories.
British authorities have published a new schedule of immigration fees affecting skilled workers, healthcare professionals, and temporary workers, with increases ranging from £20 to £115 depending on visa type and duration.
UK Foreign Work Visa Fee Increase
The UK government has implemented a structured increase across all work visa categories, with different rates applying to applications made from outside versus inside the UK. The increases affect both main applicants and their dependants equally.
Skilled Worker Visa Fee Increases
For standard Skilled Worker visas with sponsorship of 3 years or less:
- Applications made outside the UK: Increasing from £719 to £769 (£50 increase)
- Applications made inside the UK: Increasing from £827 to £885 (£58 increase)
For Skilled Worker visas with sponsorship exceeding 3 years:
- Applications made outside the UK: Increasing from £1,420 to £1,519 (£99 increase)
- Applications made inside the UK: Increasing from £1,636 to £1,751 (£115 increase)
Specialized Skilled Worker Categories
Workers with jobs on the Immigration Salary List will see modified increases:
- For sponsorship of 3 years or less: Fees rising from £551 to £590 (£39 increase), regardless of application location
- For sponsorship exceeding 3 years: Fees rising from £1,084 to £1,160 (£76 increase), regardless of application location
Health and Care Worker Provisions
The Health and Care Visa category, designed for medical professionals, will experience smaller increases:
- For sponsorship of 3 years or less: Fees rising from £284 to £304 (£20 increase)
- For sponsorship exceeding 3 years: Fees rising from £551 to £590 (£39 increase)
These rates apply consistently whether applications are made from inside or outside the UK.
Temporary Worker Categories
All Temporary Worker categories will see uniform increases regardless of application location:
- Seasonal Workers
- Religious Workers
- Charity Workers
- Creative Workers
- International Agreement Workers
- Government Authorized Exchange Workers
- Youth Mobility Scheme participants
All these categories will experience a fee increase from £298 to £319 (£21 increase) for both main applicants and dependants.
Eligibility Requirements for Skilled Worker Visas
To qualify for a Skilled Worker visa, applicants must:
- Work for a UK employer approved by the Home Office
- Have a Certificate of Sponsorship from their employer
- Work in an eligible occupation
- Meet minimum salary requirements based on job type and sponsorship date
