CONNECTICUT – Avelo Airlines (XP) is expanding its operations in Connecticut, introducing five new nonstop routes from the state. These include four destinations from Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) and a third international route from Hartford’s Bradley International Airport (BDL).
These latest additions increase Avelo’s total Connecticut routes to 39, with low introductory fares starting at $39.
New Nonstop Routes from HVN
Beginning in February 2025, Avelo will launch new flights from HVN to:
- Jacksonville, FL (JAX): Starting February 14, with twice-weekly service on Fridays and Mondays.
- Dallas-Fort Worth, TX (DFW): Starting March 7, with twice-weekly service on Fridays and Mondays.
- Detroit, MI (DTW): Seasonal service beginning April 4, with twice-weekly flights on Fridays and Mondays.
- Portland, ME (PWM): Seasonal service starting May 22, with twice-weekly flights on Thursdays and Sundays.
These additions will bring HVN’s total destinations to 31, further boosting it as Avelo’s largest base.
International Expansion at BDL
From BDL, Avelo will add a new seasonal route to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ) starting February 21, 2025. This new route is in addition to its existing international services to Cancun, Mexico (CUN) and Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ).
The Punta Cana route will operate twice weekly on Fridays and Mondays.
To support this expansion, Avelo will base a seventh Boeing 737-800 aircraft at HVN in January, with eight aircraft dedicated to HVN operations, including one based at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU).
Avelo recently strengthened its presence at BDL with two aircraft positioned there as part of its Connecticut base. This growth reflects the airline’s commitment to the state, with half of its fleet of 20 aircraft dedicated to Connecticut operations.
Avelo’s Impact on Connecticut
Since its inaugural flight on April 28, 2021, Avelo Airlines has flown over 6 million passengers across 46,000 flights. Nearly 3 million passengers have traveled on Avelo from HVN, showcasing its role as a key hub for the airline.
“We love Connecticut and are excited to continue expanding our presence here with these five new exclusive destinations. With 39 route choices, Avelo offers Connecticut travelers more choice, affordability, and convenience than any other airline operating in the state.”
