LOS ANGELES- A racist verbal assault at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) resulted in a woman being placed on United Airlines (UA) no-fly list after targeting a celebrated wedding photographer and his Indian-American family.
The incident, captured on video, revealed a disturbing racist attack against photographer Pervez Taufiq and his children during a shuttle bus ride.
United Airlines Pax Called Indian Crazy
The confrontation erupted when the unidentified woman initially directed hostile comments toward Taufiq’s son. As tensions escalated, she instructed the children to “shut up” before launching into a discriminatory verbal assault.
The woman explicitly targeted the family’s ethnic background, declaring, “Your family is from India, you have no respect for the rules… Indians are crazy.”
Taufiq responded by documenting the incident, capturing the woman’s increasingly aggressive behavior. She escalated her attack by displaying offensive hand gestures and delivering a racist tirade: “Your family is from India, you have no respect for the rules, you think you can push everyone… That’s what you think you are. You guys are f*****g crazy.”
Racist Remarks
When Taufiq challenged the woman’s racist statement about Indian people, she responded with further inflammatory language, threatening to record his “tandoori” body in a derogatory manner. Her comments explicitly targeted the family’s ethnic background and perceived national origin.
The woman claimed victimhood when security intervened, asserting, “She [the airline employee] doesn’t care that I’m a racist, you’re racist towards me. I’m American.” When Taufiq pointed out that he was also American, she disputed his citizenship, declaring, “You’re not American. Not originally, no. You’re from f**k**g India.“
Taufiq challenged her claims by offering to show his passport, sarcastically highlighting the absurdity of her racial gatekeeping. Her persistent attempts to delegitimize his American identity revealed a deeply prejudiced worldview.
Other passengers actively supported Taufiq, condemning the woman’s behavior. Multiple witnesses testified to her disruptive and racist conduct, with one passenger stating, “She is out of line, she’s drunk, and we need her off the bus.” Another passenger directly called out her racist assault: “She’s been on the bus cussing and screaming, she started calling racist slurs at this nice family. They didn’t do anything.”
Following the incident, Taufiq shared the video on Instagram, expressing his emotional response. “My blood is boiling right now. I honestly can’t even believe this,” he stated, emphasizing his anger at her treatment of his children.
Similar Unruly Incident
A United Airlines Flight UA502 from Austin (AUS) to Los Angeles descended into chaos when a passenger violently disrupted the journey by repeatedly stomping on his seat, forcing fellow travelers to intervene and restrain him. The incident, captured on video, unfolded less than an hour before the aircraft arrived at Los Angeles International Airport.
Eyewitness Gino Galofaro documented the entire episode, showing the unidentified man dressed in a hoodie and sweatpants standing on his reclined seat and aggressively kicking the surrounding area. Passengers watched in stunned silence as the man’s erratic behavior escalated.
Initially, intervention attempts remained minimal. However, Galofaro, a San Diego-based addiction counselor, ultimately joined two other passengers in subduing the disruptive traveler. Using zip ties, they strategically restrained the man’s hands and feet, securing him to his seat to prevent further disruption.
Upon landing at LAX, law enforcement met the aircraft, taking control of the situation. A United Airlines spokesperson confirmed the incident, commending the crew and passengers for their swift response in maintaining onboard safety.
Hundreds of Unruly US Pax Incidents in A Month
According to FAA Unruly Passenger Statistics, in 2024, there has been 1883 incidents. Out of a total 119 were in the last month (November 2024).
The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has implemented comprehensive measures to combat disruptive behavior on commercial flights, wielding significant financial and legal consequences for passengers who violate airline conduct standards.
The FAA can impose substantial financial penalties of up to 10,000 per violation for unruly passenger incidents, with the potential for multiple fines stemming from a single event. These hefty monetary sanctions serve as a critical deterrent against potential misconduct.
The FAA refers severe incidents to the FBI, with potential consequences including felony convictions that can dramatically impact an individual’s future travel and professional opportunities.
Passengers engaging in disruptive conduct face additional long-term consequences. Such behavior can compromise TSA PreCheck® eligibility and result in placement on an airline’s internal no-fly list, effectively restricting future travel capabilities.
While the FAA reports a significant 80 percent reduction in unruly passenger incidents since early 2021, recent data indicates ongoing challenges in maintaining consistent onboard decorum.
