CALGARY – WestJet (WS) has announced its summer 2025 schedule with a network growth of 10%, comprising a 12% expansion domestically.
The Canadian airline aims to make air travel more accessible and affordable across the country by introducing 11 new routes and expanding capacity in key markets.
New Destinations, Routes
WestJet is adding two new domestic and three transborder destinations in summer 2025. The domestic schedule includes two returning routes from Calgary:
- Calgary–Sudbury: Starting June 12, 2025, with twice-weekly service until October 19.
- Calgary–Sydney: Starting June 10, 2025, with twice-weekly service until October 18.
Moreover, the airline is launching the following new transborder routes:
- Calgary–Raleigh-Durham (3x weekly, June 9 – October 13)
- Calgary–Anchorage (2x weekly, June 29 – September 7)
- Calgary–Minneapolis (4x weekly, May 16 – September 3)
- Edmonton–Salt Lake City (5x weekly, May 15 – October 24)
- Edmonton–Chicago (3x weekly, June 4 – October 22)
- Vancouver–Boston (daily, June 9 – October 13)
- Vancouver–Tampa (1x weekly, June 14 – October 25)
- Winnipeg–Orlando (year-round service)
- Kelowna–Seattle (year-round service)
Increased Capacity
Additionally, the carrier has notably increased capacity at 10 Canadian airports compared to the summer of 2024. Key growth highlights include:
- Montreal: +31%
- Ottawa: +36%
- Edmonton: +23%
- Regina: +23%
- Winnipeg: +19%
Calgary, WestJet’s primary hub, will see an 11% growth in capacity, aligning with its role as the launchpad for most of the new routes.
Network Growth
WestJet aims to operate over 3,000 weekly departures across 41 Canadian airports. The launch/resumption of new domestic and international destinations, along with enhanced frequencies on key routes, aims to offer more travel options.
