GURUGRAM- Tata Group-owned Air India (AI) launches comprehensive measures to facilitate the Vistara merger integration, set to be completed on November 12, 2024.
The merger will impact approximately 115,000 pre-booked Vistara passengers in the first month.
Air India Vistara Merger Progress
The airline preserves Vistara’s service standards while transitioning operations under the Air India banner. All Vistara flights will receive new four-digit codes beginning with “2” under Air India’s designation. For example, Vistara flight UK 955 transforms to AI 2955, enabling seamless booking transitions on Air India’s official website.
Vistara’s existing routes, schedules, in-flight products, services, and crew members remain unchanged, maintaining service continuity for passengers.
Air India enhances customer support through multiple initiatives:
- Installation of help desk kiosks at terminal entry points across hub and metro airports
- Deployment of specially branded Air India x Vistara support staff
- Coordination with airport security to guide Vistara ticket holders
- Integration of Vistara airport ticketing offices into Air India facilities
- Conversion of Vistara check-in terminals to Air India operations
- Implementation of clear customer advisories at Self-Service Kiosks directing Vistara passengers to Air India check-in systems
The airline focuses on maintaining operational efficiency while ensuring passenger comfort during this transition phase.
Unprecedented Transition
Air India strengthens international customer support by deploying branded staff and installing directional information near check-in counters at global airports. The airline redirects all Vistara contact center calls to Air India representatives to maintain service continuity.

- 270,000 pre-booked Vistara customers transferred to Air India flights with notifications
- 4.5 million Vistara loyalty program members transitioning to Air India’s rewards system
