GURUGRAM- Air India Express (IX) expands its domestic network by adding 2 new destinations, Jammu and Sri Vijaya Puram (previously known as Port Blair) starting December 1, 2024.
The expansion strengthens the carrier’s pan-India presence with enhanced connectivity to major metropolitan hubs.
Air India Express New Destinations
“The expansion to Jammu and the Andaman Islands capitalizes on our growing fleet,” announces Aloke Singh, Managing Director of Air India Express (AIX). “This strategic growth reinforces our position as new India’s Smart Connector, delivering comprehensive domestic coverage alongside our established international network.”
The Jammu (IXJ) operations introduce 14 weekly (daily) direct flights connecting to Delhi (DEL) and Srinagar (SXR), establishing crucial air links in the northern region.
This daily flight is currently operated by Air India (AI) and AIX will replace it. It is an example of how Air India is streamlining its operation after the Air India Express and AIX Connect merger.
Passengers gain access to nine domestic destinations through one-stop connections, while international travelers benefit from seamless connections to Middle Eastern hubs including Bahrain (BAH), Dammam (DMM), and Muscat (MCT).
In a parallel development, the airline’s entry into Port Blair strengthens connectivity to India’s island territory with 21 weekly direct flights to Bengaluru and Kolkata.
We are delighted to announce the expansion of our domestic network to Jammu and the Andaman Islands. We have recently added stations and capacity in the north-east and south, and now offer a compelling pan-India domestic product, besides our large, short haul international, living up to our mission of being new India’s Smart Connector.
Aloke Singh, MD, Air India Express
The expansion provides travelers with one-stop access to 15 domestic destinations and international connectivity to Abu Dhabi (AUH), significantly enhancing the Andaman Islands’ accessibility.
Enhanced Connectivity for Winter
The expansion builds upon Air India Express’s robust presence in key metros. Srinagar emerges as a significant northern hub with 53 weekly flights, while Delhi operations soar with 307 weekly flights serving 17 domestic destinations.
Bengaluru (BLR) stands as the airline’s largest operation center, executing 379 weekly flights across 25 domestic destinations.
Kolkata (CCU) rounds out the expansion with 188 weekly flights connecting 14 domestic destinations, establishing itself as the gateway to northeastern India and international destinations across Asia and the Middle East.
This network enhancement positions Air India Express as a formidable player in India’s aviation landscape, offering comprehensive domestic coverage while maintaining strong international connections.
The expansion demonstrates the airline’s commitment to connecting tier-two cities with major metropolitan centers, supporting India’s growing air travel demands.
