DELHI, SINGAPORE- Tata Group-owned Air India (AI) and Singapore Airlines (SQ) will strengthen their existing codeshare by adding 51 new destinations including 11 Indian and 40 more international destinations to their network.
The new agreement will give a boost to travel opportunities between India and Singapore and will provide thrust to static partnership since 2010.
Air India Singapore Airlines Codeshare
Starting October 27, 2024, both carriers will implement reciprocal codeshare operations on flights connecting Singapore with Bengaluru and Chennai. This strategic move will quadruple their joint weekly scheduled services between the two countries, scaling up from 14 to 56 flights.

- The partnership enables Singapore Airlines to connect passengers through Delhi to Amritsar, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Lucknow, and Varanasi.
- Mumbai emerges as another crucial hub, linking to Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Coimbatore, Goa, Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Thiruvananthapuram. The agreement also establishes connectivity between Kolkata and Guwahati.
Air India customers receive access to 29 destinations across Singapore Airlines’ network.
- The expansion reaches seven Australian cities: Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth, and Sydney.
- Southeast Asian coverage extends to Brunei’s Bandar Seri Begawan, Cambodia’s Phnom Penh and Siem Reap, and Indonesia’s Denpasar, Jakarta, Medan, and Surabaya.
- The partnership strengthens East Asian connections through Japanese cities Fukuoka, Nagoya, Osaka, Tokyo-Haneda, and Tokyo-Narita.
- South Korean destinations include Busan and Seoul. Malaysian cities Kuala Lumpur and Penang join New Zealand’s Auckland, the Philippines’ Cebu and Manila, and Vietnam’s Danang, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City in the network.
Singapore Airlines passengers gain connectivity to Air India’s international services from Bengaluru, Delhi, and Mumbai.
- The network spans 12 destinations across Europe, including Copenhagen, Paris, Frankfurt, Milan, and Amsterdam.
- Middle Eastern routes serve Jeddah and Riyadh, while African connectivity extends to Nairobi. The UK market opens through Birmingham, London-Gatwick, and London-Heathrow services.
The deal awaits regulatory approvals, after which tickets will become available through both airlines’ booking platforms and via travel agents and OTAs.

Air India’s Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Nipun Aggarwal emphasizes the airline’s commitment to expanding customer choice and global connectivity.
The enhanced partnership with Singapore Airlines strengthens Air India’s presence across South East Asia, the Far East, and Australasia.
Aggarwal confirms the airline’s readiness to welcome Singapore Airlines passengers on domestic routes and international services to Europe, Africa, and the Middle East through Indian hubs.
Singapore Airlines Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) Lee Lik Hsin underscores the collaborative foundation between the carriers. The expansion addresses growing travel demand between India and Singapore while supporting aviation market growth in both regions.
Lee highlights the strategic importance of incorporating Air India’s domestic network, positioning India as a key market for the Singapore Airlines Group.
Apart from this, Air India is looking to form new or extend existing codeshare agreements with foreign carriers such as Air Canada (AC), Lufthansa (LH), and United Airlines (UA). The announcement regarding the same can be expected in the coming days.
Indian full-service carrier is already a Star Alliance member, allowing it to extend its network with 25 full-time and around 40 affiliates.
