LAS VEGAS- Ultra-low-cost carrier, Allegiant Air (G4) preponed the launch of the commercial flight of its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft as it began revenue service on Sunday (October 20, 2024).
Earlier, the Las Vegas-based carrier was planning to begin the commercial service from November 1, 2024.
Allegiant Boeing 737 MAX
As we reported earlier, Allegiant took delivery of its first Boeing 737 MAX 8 due to this it lost the title of all-Airbus fleet operator on September 9, 2024. The aircraft is registered as N811NV.
Well, it’s not the first time a carrier has operated a Boeing aircraft. Before 2017, the carrier used to operate the Boeing 757 fleet.
On Sunday (October 20, 2024), Allegiant operated its maiden commercial flight of the first 737 MAX from Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) to Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP).
The airline has stationed this aircraft in Orlando. Later on Sunday, Allegiant operated four flights two between SFB and GSP and two between Orlando (SFB) and Akron Canton Airport (CAK).
Allegiant will initially serve the east coastal cities of the United States by stationing its 737 MAX fleet in Florida.

50 Planes on Order
Allegiant ordered 50 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in January 2022 with options to order 80 more aircraft. The firm order includes 30 737-7s and 20 737-8-200s. But it converted some 737-7s into 737 MAX 8-200s.
Allegiant Boeing 737-8-200 accommodates 190 passengers with varied seating options. It features 21 “Allegiant Extra” seats offering 6 additional inches of pitch, and 16 “Legroom+” seats in exit rows, providing enhanced space and comfort for travelers.
The airline is set to receive four more 737 MAX 8 this year, down from 12. However, the strike at Boeing has halted the production of 737, 767, and 777 aircraft and is likely to affect this delivery timeline.
With the launch of commercial flight service of 737 MAX, Allegiant Air joins the list of few US carriers that operate this type i.e. Alaska Airlines (AS), American Airlines (AA), United (UA), and Southwest (WN).
