GURUGRAM- Tata-owned Indian FSC Air India (AI) is expanding its domestic routes with the addition of a second Airbus A350 registered as VT-JRB. The airline already operates domestic flights with its first A350. Both the aircraft are based in Bengaluru (BLR).
Air India plans to deploy its A350-900s to new US destinations such as Dallas, Los Angeles, and Seattle after getting the necessary approvals.
Air India A350 Flights
Starting in late February 2024, Air India intends to extend the utilization of Airbus A350-900XWB aircraft on domestic routes following the recent addition of the second aircraft. The scheduled A350 operations are outlined until March 30, 2024, as follows.
- Bangalore (BLR) – Chennai (MAA) – Hyderabad (HYD) – Bangalore: 6 weekly flights
- Bangalore – Chennai – Mumbai (BOM) – Bangalore: 4 weekly flights starting February 19, 2024
- Bangalore – Delhi (DEL): 1 weekly flight (increased to 2 weekly from February 21, 2024)
- Bangalore – Hyderabad – Chennai – Bangalore: 4 weekly flights starting February 19, 2024
- Bangalore – Hyderabad – Mumbai – Bangalore: 2 weekly flights starting February 20, 2024
- Bangalore – Mumbai – Chennai – Bangalore: 6 weekly flights
Arrival of A350s
The Grugram-based carrier is expanding rapidly under the ownership of Tata, and they plan to take delivery of four more A350-900s this year.
The second Airbus A350, having registration VT-JRB, took off from Toulouse at around 8:33 PM UTC. After being airborne for 8 hours and 21 minutes and covering a distance of 6,784, the flight landed safely at Delhi at 4:54 AM UTC (10:24 IST).
Air India shared the news on X and wrote, “This is the highlight of our day! Watching our second A350-900 (VT-JRB) & eleventh A320neo (VT-RTV) arriving together in Delhi.”
