AYODHYA- On Tuesday, the Ministry of Civil Aviation disclosed the initiation of flights on eight new routes to Ayodhya Airport (AYJ) starting from February 1, aiming to facilitate the travel of pilgrims.
These new flight connections will link Ayodhya with Delhi, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Patna, Darbhanga, Mumbai, and Bengaluru, and SpiceJet (SG) will operate them.
Ayodhya 8 New Routes
Following the Pran Pratishtha ceremony at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya last week, the city has witnessed a substantial influx of pilgrims, with approximately 5 lakh people paying their respects at the religious site on the very first day.
In order to streamline the arrival of pilgrims, the construction of the Maharishi Valmiki International Airport at Ayodhya Dham was undertaken at a cost of Rs 1,462 crore.
The recently established 6,250 square meters New Terminal Building is designed to accommodate over 300 passengers during peak hours. Prime Minister Modi stated that the airport, named after Maharishi Valmiki, has the capacity to serve 10 lakh passengers annually.
Simultaneously, a new railway junction in Ayodhya was also constructed at an expenditure of Rs 251 crore.
Modern Yet Traditional Airport
Situated 15 kilometers away from the central Ayodhya city, the first phase of the airport has been constructed at an expense exceeding Rs 1,450 crore, as reported by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Spanning a total area of 6,500 sqm, the airport’s terminal building is designed to accommodate approximately 10 lakh passengers annually.
Emulating the architectural style of the upcoming Shri Ram Mandir of Ayodhya, the terminal building and the main gateway feature concrete cores with sandstone cladding adorned with stylized carvings.
Upon entering, passengers will encounter interiors adorned with local art, paintings, and murals portraying the life of Lord Ram.
Incorporating modern infrastructure, the airport boasts various sustainability features such as an insulated roofing system, LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, landscaping with fountains, a water treatment plant, a sewage treatment plant, and a solar power plant, aiming to achieve GRIHA – 5-star ratings.
