JAIPUR- India’s largest domestic carrier, IndiGo Airlines (6E) flight from Jaipur (JAI) to Kolkata (CCU) made an emergency landing back at JAI.
On Monday (Jan 22, 2024), the airline said that the JAI-CCU flight diverted back to JAI amid some technical fault, and they will look into the matter.
IndiGo Jaipur to Kolkata Flight Emergency
The IndiGo Airlines flight 6E784 was en route to Kolkata when a technical fault was identified. According to an IndiGo spokesperson, the pilot adhered to standard operating procedures and safely landed the plane back in Jaipur.
According to flightradar24, flight 6E784 took off with a 2-hour and 15-minute delay from Jaipur. After 10 minutes, the flight crew reported some technical issues at 17,000 feet, and after getting ATC clearance, they decided to make a U-turn.
After burning some extra fuel and one holding pattern for a safe landing, it made an emergency landing at around 9:02 PM Indian Standard Time (IST).
Following this, the aircraft underwent a thorough assessment and necessary repairs at Jaipur airport. Passengers were accommodated on an alternative flight, and IndiGo expressed apologies to those on board the Jaipur-Kolkata flight for any inconvenience caused, as stated by the spokesperson.
According to ch-aviation, the aircraft involved in the incident is Airbus A320neo and is powered by Pratt and Whitney PW1100G engines. The aircraft’s registration is VT-ITI and is taken on lease from SMBC capital.
Further, as of 30 September 2023, the aircraft has completed 21,797 flight hours in 14,978 flight cycles. So it’s usually deployed on sector with an average flight time is one hour and 30 minutes.
