TAIWAN– EVA Air (BR), based in Taiwan, has officially confirmed its firm order with Airbus, acquiring 18 long-range A350-1000s and 15 single-aisle A321neo.
This decision positions the airline as the most recent global carrier to choose the A350-1000 for its upcoming long-haul needs. Furthermore, the addition of A321neo aircraft is expected to enhance the efficiency of EVA Air’s regional network.
Executive Insights
Clay Sun, President of EVA Air, expressed, “After a comprehensive evaluation of various models in each market segment, we have chosen Airbus aircraft in both size categories for their modernity, fuel efficiency, and superior passenger comfort.
These aircraft contribute significantly to carbon emission reductions, aligning with our company’s sustainability objectives. The A350-1000, in particular, sets new standards for long-range operations, allowing us to provide our passengers with the best possible in-flight experience.”
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales, Commercial Aircraft, commented, “This order represents a new chapter in our relationship with EVA Air, and we appreciate the airline’s confidence in Airbus.
In the long-range market, it’s a substantial endorsement for the A350-1000 as the natural successor to previous-generation aircraft in the larger widebody size category. The A350 is redefining standards in terms of range, payload, fuel efficiency, and passenger comfort while also making an immediate impact on reducing carbon emissions.”
He added, “We are grateful to EVA for reaffirming its commitment to the latest generation Airbus single-aisle family with its inaugural direct purchase of the A321neo. We eagerly anticipate collaborating closely with the airline as it prepares for its new Airbus fleet
Long-Range Aircraft in Two Sizes
“As the leading choice for long-range travel in the aviation industry, the A350 is offered in two sizes: the A350-900, accommodating up to 350 passengers in a standard three-class configuration, and the larger A350-1000, seating up to 410 passengers.
Equipped with the latest generation Rolls-Royce engines, these aircraft boast non-stop flight capabilities of up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 kilometers), consuming 25% less fuel than previous generations and resulting in a similar reduction in carbon emissions.
Passengers experience unparalleled in-flight comfort with the A350, featuring the quietest cabin, advanced lighting systems, and cutting-edge in-flight connectivity. The reduced cabin pressure ensures that travelers arrive in better condition.
The A350 Family has secured over 1,000 firm orders from 60 global customers, with more than 570 aircraft currently operational in the fleets of 39 operators, primarily serving long-haul routes.
As part of the A320neo Family, the A321neo incorporates state-of-the-art technologies, including new-generation engines, Sharklets, and cabin efficiency enablers, resulting in a remarkable 20% fuel savings.
Since its launch in 2016, the A321neo has garnered over 5,600 orders from more than 100 customers, claiming a dominant 65 percent share of the market.
