LONDON- Here’s the most recent overview of British Airways (BA) scheduled alterations for its international network during the Northern winter 2023/24 season, set to take effect from October 29, 2023.
This update is derived from a comparison of schedules between May 7, 2023 (selected routes on May 11, 2023) and October 27, 2023.
British Airways International Schedule
Here are the operational adjustments planned by British Airways for its international routes in the Northern winter 2023/24 season, effective from October 29, 2023 reported Aeroroutes:
- London Gatwick – New York JFK: Service will be suspended from January 8, 2024, to February 9, 2024.
- London Heathrow – Austin: The frequency will be reduced from 7 weekly flights to the following during specific periods with A350-1000XWB aircraft:
- November 19, 2023, to November 29, 2023: 6 weekly
- January 29, 2024, to February 11, 2024: 5 weekly
- London Heathrow – Baltimore/Washington: Frequency will be reduced from 6 to 5 weekly flights during the following periods using 787-8 aircraft:
- December 3, 2023, to December 11, 2023
- December 25, 2023, to January 15, 2024
- January 31, 2024, to February 12, 2024
- London Heathrow – Bangalore: The 787-8 aircraft will replace the 777-200ER during specific periods, operating 1 daily flight:
- November 13, 2023, to November 25, 2023 (except November 23, 2023)
- February 1, 2024, to February 29, 2024
- London Heathrow – Beijing Daxing: The service will be reduced from the initially planned 1 daily flight to 4 weekly flights. The aircraft type change from 787-8 to 787-9 remains unchanged.
- London Heathrow – Boston: The service will be reduced from the previously filed 21 weekly flights to 17, with variations including the use of various 787 variants, replacing the 777-200ER, 787-8, and 787-9. Initially, it was filed as 787-9 only.
- London Heathrow – Dallas/Ft. Worth: Frequency will be reduced from 7 to 6 weekly flights during specific periods with A380 aircraft:
- December 26, 2023, to January 6, 2024
- February 6, 2024, to February 26, 2024
- London Heathrow – Los Angeles: Two of the three daily flights will see aircraft changes:
- BA269/268: Starting from October 29, 2023, A380 will replace 777-300ER, which remains unchanged since May 2023.
- BA283/282: Starting from October 29, 2023, 777-200ER will replace A350-1000XWB (previously scheduled for December 4, 2023).
Other Changes
- London Heathrow – Montreal: The 777-200ER aircraft will replace the 787-8, except for the period from January 20, 2024, to March 1, 2024.
- London Heathrow – Mumbai:
- BA139/138: Effective from October 29, 2023, the A350-1000XWB replaces the 777-200ER/787-9.
- BA135/134: The A350-1000XWB is replaced as follows:
- October 29, 2023, to November 30, 2023: 777-200ER (selected dates 777-300ER)
- December 1, 2023, to December 29, 2023: 787-8
- January 1, 2024, to March 1, 2024: 777-200ER (previously planned until March 30, 2024).
- BA199/198: Effective from October 29, 2023, the 787-9 replaces the 777-200ER.
- London Heathrow – Newark: Two of the three daily flights will see aircraft changes:
- BA185/184: Effective from October 29, 2023, 777-200ER/-300ER replaces 787-10.
- BA189/188: The 787-10 replaces the 777-200ER during the following periods:
- October 29, 2023, to November 12, 2023
- January 1, 2024, to January 14, 2024.
- London Heathrow – New York JFK: Effective from October 29, 2023, the 787-10 replaces the 777-200ER, except on selected dates.
- London Heathrow – Phoenix: From November 3, 2023, to November 25, 2023, A350-1000XWB will continue to operate 1 daily flight during this period. The previously planned 2 of 7 weekly flights by 777-300ER have been removed.
- London Heathrow – Pittsburgh: From January 15, 2024, to February 25, 2024, the service will be reduced from 4 to 3 weekly flights, operated by 787-8.
- London Heathrow – Seattle: Seven of the ten weekly flights, BA049/048, will see the following aircraft changes:
- October 29, 2023, to January 7, 2024: 777-300ER
- January 8, 2024, to January 19, 2024: 787-8/-9
- January 20, 2024, to March 8, 2024: 777-300ER (The service reduces to 5 weekly from February 3, 2024, to February 16, 2025, and 6 weekly from February 17, 2024, to February 28, 2024).
- March 9, 2024, to March 30, 2024: 787-9
- Starting from October 31, 2023, on the London Heathrow to Tokyo Haneda route:
- Three of the weekly flights, BA005/006, will be operated by a 777-300ER instead of a 787-8.
- The daily flight, BA007/008, will continue to be served by a 787-9 aircraft.
- However, from January 7, 2024, to January 22, 2024, there will be a temporary reduction in the frequency from 10 weekly flights to 7 weekly flights, and flight BA005/006 will be canceled during this period.
