SAN FRANCISCO- The Chicago-bound United Airlines (UA) has changed several aircraft from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) on certain routes.
United Airlines manages a fleet of 922 aircraft, positioning it as the third-largest commercial airline fleet globally. The fleet predominantly comprises a combination of Airbus and Boeing narrowbody aircraft, alongside exclusively Boeing widebody aircraft.
United Airlines SFO-LHR Aircraft Changes
In the upcoming summer season of 2024, United Airlines will be making aircraft adjustments to its San Francisco to London Heathrow route, as indicated in the recent schedule update. From May 23, 2024, until September 2, 2024, one of the three daily flights on this route will be operated by a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft under the flight number UA930/939, replacing the previously planned 787-9 aircraft.
This aircraft change was incorporated into the schedule update that occurred during the weekend of October 13, 2023 and is reported by Aeroroutes.
Here are the flight details:
From San Francisco (SFO) to London Heathrow (LHR):
- UA901 departing SFO at 12:30 PM, arriving in LHR at 6:55 AM the following day, operated with a 789.
- UA948 departing SFO at 4:00 PM, arriving in LHR at 10:25 AM the next day, operated with a 777.
- UA930 departing SFO at 7:45 PM, arriving in LHR at 2:10 PM the following day, operated with a 77W.
From London Heathrow (LHR) to San Francisco (SFO):
- UA900 departing LHR at 10:35 AM, arriving in SFO at 1:35 PM, operated with a 789.
- UA949 departing LHR at 12:20 PM, arriving in SFO at 3:20 PM, operated with a 777.
- UA939 departing LHR at 4:15 PM, arriving in SFO at 7:15 PM, operated with a 77W.
SFO-CHC Changes
During the schedule update on the weekend of October 13, 2023, United Airlines made aircraft adjustments to its San Francisco to Christchurch route. The inaugural flight, originally set for December 8, 2023, will now be operated by a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner instead of the -8 variant.
The smaller -8 aircraft will serve this route three times a week from December 10, 2023, to March 27, 2024, with departures from San Francisco.

From San Francisco (SFO) to Christchurch (CHC):
- UA730 departing SFO at 11:30 PM on December 8, 2023, arriving in CHC at 10:35 AM two days later, operated with a 789.
From Christchurch (CHC) to San Francisco (SFO):
- UA731 departing CHC at 2:15 PM on December 10, 2023, arriving in SFO at 6:20 AM on the same day, operated with a 789.
