PARIS- On October 13, 2023, Star Alliance, the world’s largest airline alliance, officially opened its second lounge at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG).
Commencing from October 13, this lounge is set to welcome First and Business Class passengers and Star Alliance Gold status customers departing from gates 10 to 38 in Terminal 1. Eligible United (UA) Club and Air Canada (AC) Maple Leaf Club members can access this lounge.
Star Alliance Paris Lounge
Conveniently situated beyond immigration and security controls in the most recent section of the terminal, this new lounge provides a spacious yet intimate environment that can accommodate more than 300 guests within approximately 1,300 square meters.
The lounge’s design is the work of the renowned architecture firm Gensler, which previously designed the acclaimed Star Alliance Los Angeles airport lounge in 2013.
The CEO of Star Alliance, Theo Panagiotoulias, commented, “Star Alliance is committed to enhancing the travel experience for its member airline passengers, and airport lounges play a crucial role in this endeavor. We take great pride in introducing our new Paris lounge, which not only offers a delightful experience but is also thoughtfully designed to meet the requirements of today’s frequent traveler.”
Featuring impressive runway views and an abundance of natural light facilitated by a glass façade stretching across its length, this lounge creates a sense of spaciousness.
It upholds the design principles of aligning with the evolving preferences of today’s travelers while incorporating elements inspired by the local character of the destination.
Featuring French Brands
The new lounge embodies the essence of French charm by featuring local brands and artists. It evokes the timeless aesthetic of Paris with decorative elements like wall moldings and archways adorned with captivating black and white photographs of the Eiffel Tower.
The lounge is thoughtfully furnished with meticulously selected pieces by French artists, promising a visual experience like no other.
Some of its notable highlights include a beautifully designed Welcome Bar offering a diverse range of beverages, an immersive Wine Bar featuring the wines of master winemaker Gerard Bertrand from the South of France, and a Tea Salon offering an array of teas from around the world.
For business travelers seeking a quieter environment, private work cabins, and secluded nooks are available throughout the lounge.
Executive Insights
Christian Draeger, the Vice President for Customer Experience at Star Alliance, remarked, “Our new Paris lounge expands the count of Star Alliance branded lounges to seven worldwide and takes the airport lounge experience to new heights. We have carefully curated the lounge to provide a multi-sensory experience for guests departing from the vibrant city of Paris, whether it’s the design, decor, or the culinary experience.”
The new Star Alliance Paris Lounge offers something for every visitor. Guests can relax in a well-lit Winter Garden, a spacious outdoor courtyard, or freshen up in the well-appointed shower suites.
There are now two Star Alliance lounges operating in Terminal 1. The first lounge, which underwent refurbishment in 2019 and is situated before security on level 10, will continue to serve passengers departing on intra-Schengen flights from gates 50 to 78 and guests from various lounge access programs departing from all gates.
Currently, 20 Star Alliance member carriers operate from Paris – CDG, offering 464 weekly departures to 34 destinations in 22 countries.
