FRANKFURT- Chicago-based carrier United Airlines (UA) flight from Frankfurt (FRA) to Houston (IAH) has declared an emergency and returning back to FRA.
The airline has one daily non-stop service between FRA and IAH. Further, it has a codeshare with Lufthansa (LH) and puts its flight number on LH-operated Boeing 747 daily service.

United Frankfurt to Houston Declares Emergency
Now, let us establish a flight timeline with FlightRadar24 (FR24) data.
According to FR24, the United Airlines flight UA47 took off from Frankfurt International Airport (FRA) at around 1:22 PM UTC. After being airborne for around one hour, the flight made a U-turn and shortly declared an emergency.
The flight was over the Celtic Sea when it declared an emergency. By looking at the flight data and pattern, it looks like a medical emergency or some technical issue that needs urgent attention.
The flight is currently airborne and is over France’s airspace at the time of writing this post.
The aircraft involved in this incident is a Boeing 777-200ER, registered as N795UA. Further, it is a 25.9 year old aircraft and is powered by two Pratt and Whitney PW4000 engines.

Another UA Incident
The Chicago-based carrier United Airlines (UA) flight from New York (EWR) to Rome (FCO) lost cabin pressurization after takeoff dropped 30,000 feet in just seven minutes.
Following this incident, the flight made an emergency landing back at Newark, New York (EWR). The US carrier operates two daily flights between EWR and FCO.
On September 13, 2023, United Airlines flight UA510 took off from Newark Liberty Int’l Airport (EWR) at around 1:20 AM UTC. The flight suffered a cabin pressurization loss after being airborne for almost 50 minutes.
From 2:08 to 2:15 PM UTC, the flight loses approx 30,000 feet. It was at 37,000 and came down to 8,875 feet. After burning and damping some extra fuel, the flight crew decided to make a U-Turn. The aircraft continued its return flight at 9,000 feet.
The flight landed safely back at EWR at around 4:22 PM UTC.
