ATHENS- Emirates (EK) and AEGEAN (A3) have jointly announced an expansion of their codeshare agreement, with the addition of the Athens-New York (Newark) route.

This development marks the one-year anniversary of their successful partnership, which has already benefitted over 16,800 passengers.

Passengers flying with Emirates now have the option to include a stopover in Athens and then enjoy the convenience of connecting to various Greek and European destinations through AEGEAN.

Likewise, AEGEAN travelers gain access to Emirates’ flights connecting Athens to Dubai and flights between Athens and Newark.

The Emirates and AEGEAN codeshare partnership was inaugurated in August 2022, providing travelers with a seamless booking experience that links Emirates’ extensive network to eight domestic destinations in Greece via Athens, all under a single ticket and a unified baggage policy.

Additionally, AEGEAN placed its codes on Emirates-operated flights between Dubai and Athens, enabling customers to enjoy seamless travel between these key hubs.

Through this collaborative agreement, AEGEAN offers flights to 17 domestic destinations and an additional 53 regional European and Middle Eastern points from its Athens hub.

Meanwhile, customers can tap into Emirates’ global network spanning over 140 destinations across six continents, accessible from its Dubai hub. Together, the combined network of both airlines will encompass an impressive total of 200 destinations worldwide.

Emirates (EK) and AEGEAN (A3) have jointly announced an expansion of their codeshare agreement, with the addition of the Athens-New York (Newark) route.

          Executive Insights

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, expressed, “We are delighted to enhance further our thriving partnership with AEGEAN, now encompassing our direct service between Athens and Newark. We highly value AEGEAN as a partner and believe that by expanding our joint network with additional routes, we can offer even more travelers convenient travel options while providing them access to our world-class products and services.”

“With 29 codeshare partners and 117 interline partners spanning over 100 countries, we continue to expand our global presence, offering seamless connectivity to over 5,250 destinations beyond our network. Our robust business strategy reaffirms our position as the world’s largest international airline as we continuously strengthen and broaden our collaborations within the aviation and travel ecosystem.”

Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer

Dimitris Gerogiannis, CEO of AEGEAN, commented, “We are excited to introduce an extended codeshare partnership with Emirates, a recognized industry leader. This significant development brings Athens and New York within closer reach for all AEGEAN passengers. Simultaneously, it streamlines travel to sought-after Greek and European destinations through our network for passengers choosing Emirates as their gateway to Greece. The harmonious cooperation between Emirates and AEGEAN sets a noteworthy example for a seamless travel experience for our passengers, and it paves the way for further success, benefiting both airlines and the Greek tourism industry.”
