ISLAMABAD- With over 1.6 million individuals of Pakistani heritage residing in the UK, they play a significant role in British society, contributing to its diverse and growing community.
The substantial movement of hundreds of thousands of people between the UK and Pakistan each year underscores the profound and expanding human connection between the two nations. Air connections are essential for facilitating trade between the UK, Pakistan, and the Pakistani diaspora.
UK Gifts Airport Scanners to Pakistan
The UK government has allocated £164,000 (equivalent to 60 million Rupees) to provide Karachi and Lahore airports with cutting-edge airport scanners designed to detect illicit items in passengers’ luggage.
This advanced technology enhances the safety and security of British and Pakistani travelers heading to the UK or other destinations.
This initiative represents just a fraction of the ongoing aviation collaborations between the UK and Pakistan, aimed at elevating safety and security standards within the aviation sector.
Aviation safety is a paramount concern for the UK. Adhering to international minimum standards ensures the safety and security of air travel for both UK and Pakistani nationals while fostering the growth of international aviation.
Today, the British High Commissioner participated in a ceremony at Karachi airport to officially hand over these state-of-the-art scanners, marking another step forward in our aviation cooperation with Pakistan.
