DUBAI- Flag Carrier of UAE, Emirates (EK) is embracing the festive spirit of the Kerala harvest season, i.e., Onam, by offering an array of delectable treats and a selection of entertaining Malayalam movies on its flights.
From August 20 to 31, 2023, passengers can indulge in authentic Onam dishes across all cabin classes on flights connecting Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram to Dubai.


Emirates Onam Special Offers
Passengers on the 14 weekly Emirates flights to Kochi and the 7 weekly flights to Thiruvananthapuram will be treated to specially crafted menus that capture the unique flavors of Onam, providing them with a taste of their homeland.
Traditional appetizers like sharkara upperi (banana roasted in sweet jaggery), kaya varuthathu (crisp banana chips), and kondattam mulaku (fried sundried chilies steeped in yogurt) will delight travelers.
The menu will also feature essential Onam dips, including kaalan made from coconut, fresh yogurt, and yam; cucumber pachadi, a garnished salad; and puli inji, a sweet and tangy ginger-based chutney.
For First and Business Class passengers, the culinary journey will include Kerala-style pappadam and a flavorful mango pickle.

Delightful Offerings
Passengers will have a delightful selection of main courses to choose from, including options like alleppey kozhi curry – a flavorful spiced chicken dish in coconut sauce served with avial, chemba rice, and cabbage carrot thoran.
Alternatively, the vegetarian sadhya offers sambar and kootu, accompanied by matta rice and carrot pea thoran.
For those who prefer meat, there’s spiced chicken sukha – a pan-fried chicken with coconut and spices, served with steamed rice, carrot pea thoran, and vegetable kootu, as well as mutton sukha with chemba rice, erissery, and bean thoran. First Class customers also have the delectable option of mutton pepper fry.
Indulgent desserts reminiscent of Onam traditions will include palada pradhaman – a creamy rice pudding adorned with roasted pistachios, raisins, and cashew nuts, or parippu payasam – the beloved sweet lentil pudding topped with roasted coconut flakes.
To maintain the festive ambiance, all meals will be presented on banana leaf dish liners, adding an authentic touch to the sadhya experience for Keralites.
