Authorities in Cuba reported that an American airliner departing from Cuba had to make an emergency landing in Havana after striking birds in the sky.
Southwest Airlines
According to accounts, the Southwest Airlines plane hit several birds, which caused some engine issues and smoke to enter the cabin. Boeing 737 was carrying 147 passengers as well as a six-person crew, according to Southwest Airlines’ statement to AFP.
The birds impacted the aircraft’s nose and one of its engines shortly after takeoff, according to a statement from the airline. Customers left the plane via slides because there was smoke in the cabin, according to the statement, which said that the pilots had returned to Havana safely.
Southwest Airlines and the Cuban civil aviation regulator Cacsa both confirmed that no injuries were recorded in connection with the incident involving flight 3923 from Fort Lauderdale, Florida, operated by the airline. The incident is the subject of an investigation, according to Cacsa.
Nagpur airport
Following the pilot’s discovery of smoke coming from the engine last week, a SalamAir flight (Chittagong-Muscat) had to make an emergency landing at Nagpur airport. In addition to seven crew members, the airplane carried about 200 passengers.
