A LOT Polish Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner was forced to make an emergency landing in New York after a cabin window crack was found. The window crack was discovered during the descent.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner was operating a flight from Warsaw, Poland to New York John F. Kennedy in the United States. The aircraft reportedly entered severe turbulence during the final approach.
As a result, one of the cabin windows suffered cracks during the descent to New York JFK. In addition, the auto-dimming system was also damaged.
Emergency Landing in New York
After sustaining the window crack, the crew dropped the flight altitude shortly. The cockpit crew then contacted the ATC at New York – JFK and requested for an emergency landing.
No one was injured in the incident, and the aircraft landed safely without further incidents.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is one of the youngest aircraft in the airline’s fleet. LOT Polish heavily utilizes these aircraft on its long transoceanic flights.
