Jet Airways is set to return to the Indian aviation sector after imploding under a mountain of debt in 2019. As part of the procedure, the airline, which is now led by new owners, is prepared to reclaim its Air Operators Certificate by conducting a proving flight, as is customary.
On social media, an image of the “first intake of cabin crew” who will be a part of the proving flight was released.
“Jet Airways initial intake of cabin crew… for the first proving flight to regain its AOC Air Operators Certificate… #JetRevival“
the handle Jet Airways 2.0 News tweeted alongside the photo
The image was sent as part of a tweet from Jet Airways’ official account on April 26. “The team who will be part of creating history as they prepare to perform our proving flights soon,” the tweet added, alongside a photo of the crew. With the classic move that Jet Airways pioneered!”
What is a proving flight, exactly? A proving flight is one that airlines must complete in order to get an Air Operator’s Certificate, which is required before they can begin commercial flights. To demonstrate preparedness and safety standards, airline crews must behave in the same way they do when conducting commercial operations on a proving flight. Check-in counter employees, engineers, pilots, and cabin personnel are all involved in this.
Members of the airline in question — in this example, Jet Airways – and DGCA officials are among the passengers on proving flights.
Jet Airways appears to be on a hiring binge in addition to the proving flight. The airline company has been inviting candidates for roles in operations (crew, airport workers, engineers and technicians), as well as product development, throughout the last few days.
Recruitment for the aforementioned roles will begin in the coming weeks, according to Jet Airways.
Murari Lal Jalan, a Dubai-based Indian-origin billionaire, and Florian Fritsch, the head of London-based financial advice and alternative asset manager Kalrock Capital Management Ltd, are the new owners of Jet Airways. Naresh Goyal, a booking agent turned entrepreneur, launched Jet Airways in the early 1990s.
