Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said in the Lok Sabha on Thursday that Air India, Air India Express, and Alliance Air lost a total of Rs 17,032 crore between April 2020 and December 2021.
He stated that the now-privatised Air India suffered the greatest loss, with a loss of Rs 9,373 crore in 2020-21 and Rs 6,927 crore in 2021-22. (upto December 2021).
During the Question Hour, he revealed that Air India Express made a profit of Rs 184 crore in 2020-21 and a loss of Rs 161 crore in 2021-22 (until December 2021).
According to the minister, Alliance Air lost Rs 440 crore in 2020-21 and Rs 315 crore in 2021-22(till December 2021).
The Tata Group purchased Air India and Air India Express earlier this year.
