KOLKATA- <\/strong>Tata Group-owned Air India (AI)<\/a> Flight AI180<\/strong> from San Francisco (SFO) to Mumbai (BOM) experienced a technical snag during its scheduled transit at Kolkata Airport (CCU)<\/a> on Tuesday morning, June 17, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Boeing 777-200LR<\/a> aircraft, operating the San Francisco-Mumbai route, experienced technical complications in its left engine upon arrival at the West Bengal<\/a> facility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Flight landed at Kolkata Airport (CCU) at its scheduled time. Airport authorities confirmed that the aircraft arrived on time at Kolkata Airport (CCU), a transit point<\/strong> on the route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the engine malfunction prevented the flight from continuing its journey to Mumbai (BOM)<\/a>. At approximately 5:20 AM, the flight captain announced the mandatory deplaning of all passengers through the aircraft’s public address system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The captain informed passengers that the decision prioritised flight safety protocols<\/strong>. Airport ground crews immediately initiated standard emergency procedures to facilitate passenger evacuation from the aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monday’s technical incidents began when Air India (AI) Flight AI819<\/strong> experienced mechanical problems immediately after departing Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL). The Airbus A321neo<\/a> aircraft, carrying 168 passengers, was scheduled to operate the Delhi-Vadodara<\/strong> domestic route on Sunday evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft landed safely at IGI Airport at 7:20 PM. Airline sources confirmed that the captain suspected landing gear issues<\/strong> within minutes of becoming airborne and exercised precautionary measures by returning immediately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ground maintenance teams conducted comprehensive safety inspections upon the aircraft’s return. Technical evaluations confirmed all systems operated normally, and passengers received alternative flight arrangements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hong Kong Mid-Flight Return<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Air India (AI) Flight AI315<\/strong> encountered suspected technical complications during its Hong Kong-Delhi route on Monday. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner departed Hong Kong (HKG) at 12:16 PM local time according to Flightradar24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Approximately one hour into the journey, the flight crew identified potential mechanical malfunctions <\/strong>requiring immediate attention. The pilot implemented safety protocols and reversed course toward Hong Kong International Airport (HKG).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aircraft completed a successful emergency landing in Hong Kong (HKG) without passenger or crew injuries. Aviation authorities have not disclosed specific details regarding the suspected technical issue. The Dreamliner remains grounded pending thorough mechanical inspection and technical assessment procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
