SALT LAKE CITY-<\/strong> A disruptive Delta Air Lines (DL)<\/a> passenger was arrested at Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) after allegedly stealing a backpack from the Delta Sky Club and attempting to seize a police officer’s weapon during his arrest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 29-year-old suspect, Joseph Johnson, had been removed from the lounge for misconduct when he took another traveler\u2019s bag containing an estimated $4,000<\/strong> in valuables. The situation escalated when airport police confronted him near the terminal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Delta Passenger Arrested at SLC Lounge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On the evening of June 8, 2025, Johnson entered the Delta Sky Club around 8:30 p.m., reportedly while intoxicated, View from the Wing<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Though initially allowed entry, he was soon ejected due to inappropriate behavior. As he exited, Johnson took a fellow passenger\u2019s unattended backpack. The stolen item reportedly held high-value contents, including electronics and personal items.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Salt Lake City airport officers tracked Johnson and intercepted him inside the terminal. When approached, Johnson acted aggressively, pushing his luggage at officers and refusing to cooperate. During his arrest<\/a>, he reached for a holstered firearm, pulling hard enough to lift the officer\u2019s duty belt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Officers used force to subdue Johnson, eventually restraining him with a WRAP device\u2014a tool used to immobilize combative individuals. Despite being secured, he continued resisting by slamming his head against the plexiglass inside the patrol vehicle en route to jail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
