The criticism targets US President Donald Trump\u2019s<\/a> ambitious defense initiative, which includes space-based sensors and interceptors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to North Korea\u2019s Foreign Ministry, the Golden Dome is a veiled offensive weapon designed to escalate global tensions, particularly in East Asia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The system is expected to operate from multiple locations, including Anchorage, Alaska, while drawing opposition from states like North Korea and concern from allies like Japan and South Korea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

North Korea Condemns US Golden Dome<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

North Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has publicly denounced the US Golden Dome<\/a> missile defense project, describing it as a highly provocative and destabilizing move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The criticism came through a memorandum issued by the US Research Institute of the North Korean foreign ministry and reported by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to the memorandum, the Golden Dome, a next-generation defense network modeled after Israel\u2019s Iron Dome, represents a shift from traditional missile deterrence to space-based warfare.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The North alleges that the US is misrepresenting the system as purely defensive, while it is capable of rapid transformation into an offensive platform, effectively placing global targets within reach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The statement further accused the United States of using trilateral alliances, particularly with South Korea and Japan, to create a missile defense grid that benefits only Washington\u2019s strategic dominance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe hegemonic power is brutally and selfishly scheming to use its follower states as cannon fodder,\u201d the report said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

North Korea reaffirmed its right to defend regional stability, stating it would continue to safeguard its strategic interests against foreign military escalation in outer space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The US Golden Dome<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Unveiled in the Oval Office, the Golden Dome missile shield is expected to cost around $175 billion over three years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trump, surrounded by senior defense officials, including Gen. Michael Guetlein of the US Space Force, detailed the scope of the project, which he claims will be the most advanced missile defense architecture ever built.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The system will incorporate land, sea, and space-based interceptors, capable of targeting threats from intercontinental and hypersonic missiles, including those launched from space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Although still in early development, elements of the architecture, such as satellite tracking and threat detection systems, are being developed under the Space Development Agency’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Congressional support has been robust among Republicans. The Golden Dome Act, backed by Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska) and Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-N.D.), proposes the addition of Aegis Ashore systems, an interceptor site on the East Coast, and expanded coverage from Fort Greely, Alaska. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The House GOP allocated $25 billion in their fiscal 2025 budget reconciliation package to kickstart the initiative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, critics note that essential technologies, like hypersonic and space-based interceptors, are years from operational readiness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Despite this, Trump asserted that funding is straightforward, citing overwhelming bipartisan support for protecting the US homeland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
