departures)<\/strong> and one international <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/air-india\/\">Air India (AI)<\/a> flight to <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/tel-aviv-airport\/\">Tel Aviv (TLV)<\/a>, flight <strong>AI-139<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over 150 flights, primarily operated by airlines like <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/indigo-airlines\/\">IndiGo (6E)<\/a> and Air India (AI), were delayed by an<strong> average of 15 minutes<\/strong>, per FlightRadar data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The cancellations stemmed from the closure of 32 airports in northern and western India, including <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/srinagar-airport\/\">Srinagar (SXR)<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/amritsar-airport\/\">Amritsar (ATQ)<\/a>, effective from May 9 to 05:29 IST on May 15, 2025, due to India-Pakistan tensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/directorate-general-of-civil-aviation\/\">Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) <\/a>cited <strong>\u201coperational reasons\u201d<\/strong> for the closures, triggered by Pakistan\u2019s drone and missile attacks on May 8\u20139, following India\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/operation-sindoor\/\">Operation Sindoor<\/a> strikes on terror camps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Delhi (DEL), India\u2019s busiest airport, on May 8, mandating <strong>Secondary Ladder Point Checks (SLPC)<\/strong> for all passengers, banning terminal visitor entry, and increasing vehicle and baggage screenings. DIAL\u2019s advisory emphasised coordination with airlines like SpiceJet (SG) to minimise disruptions at Delhi (DEL).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Passengers faced long queues and confusion, with FlightRadar24 reporting 71 departing and 34 arriving flights cancelled at Delhi (DEL) by 4 p.m. on May 9.
