NEW DELHI- <\/strong>IndiGo Airlines<\/a> (6E) confirmed on April 25, 2025, that approximately 50 international routes<\/strong> face potential disruptions following Pakistan’s<\/a> decision to close its airspace.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carrier has already canceled flights to Almaty, Kazakhstan (ALA)<\/strong> and Tashkent, Uzbekistan (TAS) <\/strong>from April 27 to May 7 due to these restrictions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo 50 International Routes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The airline issued a statement explaining the necessity for schedule adjustments across numerous international routes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“With the same restrictions and limited rerouting options, unfortunately, Almaty and Tashkent are outside the operational range of IndiGo’s current fleet. Hence, flights to Almaty stand cancelled from 27th of April until at least 7th of May and to Tashkent from 28th of April until 7th May 2025,” the statement detailed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier on April 25, IndiGo (6E) posted on X that several international flights would be impacted by Pakistan’s airspace closure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The carrier assured customers that its teams were “working diligently to assess the situation and assist impacted customers with the best possible alternatives.” The airline added that it continues to “closely monitor the situation following the sudden airspace closure by Pakistan.”<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

IndiGo (6E) emphasised that this unexpected development will disrupt travel plans for numerous passengers. The airline has advised affected travellers to visit its official website to explore flexible rebooking options or claim refunds according to their preference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The airspace closure by Pakistan comes as a response to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the Pahalgam terror attack<\/a> that resulted in 26 casualties<\/strong>, India implemented several retaliatory measures, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT), expelling Pakistan’s military attach\u00e9s, and shutting down the Attari land-transit post. Pakistan responded by closing its airspace to Indian aircraft and suspending the Shimla agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
