MELBOURNE- <\/strong> A TUI Airways (BY)<\/a> Boeing 787 Dreamliner<\/a> carrying 350 passengers to England aborted its takeoff on April 18 from Melbourne Orlando International Airport (MLB). <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident prompted a significant emergency response as the aircraft veered off the taxiway <\/strong>with its front landing gear rolling onto the grass. Airport officials confirmed no injuries occurred during the incident.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

TUI 787 Aborts Takeoff<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

A TUI Airways (BY) Boeing 787-900<\/a> preparing for departure to Birmingham, England (BHX)<\/a>, on runway 9R<\/strong> at Melbourne Airport experienced an electrical alert in the cockpit. During the aircraft’s attempt to exit via Taxiway C<\/strong>, its right main landing gear veered off the pavement and became stuck in the grass.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 experienced electrical issues that prompted communication with air traffic controllers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“A 787\u20139 TUI aircraft departing for Birmingham, UK, aborted their takeoff on runway 9R due to an alarm in the cockpit. While exiting the runway at Taxiway C, the aircraft’s right main landing gear went into the grass.”<\/p>Greg Donovan, Airport Director <\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

FAA <\/a>investigators reported that TUI Airways (BY) Flight 601 <\/strong>was preparing to depart for Birmingham, England, when the crew decided to abort the takeoff after an alarm sounded in the cockpit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This quick decision by the flight crew prevented what could have potentially developed into a more serious situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
