OSLO-<\/strong> Flag carrier of T\u00fcrkiye, Turkish Airlines (TK)<\/a> flights bound to the United States (US) were forced to divert to Oslo Gardermoen Airport (OSL) on April 17, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkish Airlines currently operates flights to 14 cities in the US, and it plans to make it 20 in the coming years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Turkish Airlines Flights Diverted<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The flights involved in the diversion are Turkish Airlines TK1 between Istanbul and New York JFK and TK79 between Istanbul and San Francisco (SFO), reported HavaSosyalMedya<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let’s start with TK1<\/strong> and find out more about it. According to FlightRadar24 data, Turkish Airlines flight TK1 took off from Istanbul Airport (IST) at 11:45 UTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After being airborne for over three hours, the cabin crew reported that a passenger had fallen sick. Following this pilots decided to make a diversion to the nearest airport. At the time of the incident, the aircraft was flying between the Faroe Islands and Norway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight operated by a Boeing 777-300ER<\/a>, registered as TC-JJU, landed safely at OSL at 16:27 UTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sick passenger received proper medical care. The flight took off again after staying two hours at OSL and reached New York<\/a> four hours later than the actual scheduled time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Second Diversion<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Similarly, a second Turkish Airlines flight, TK79<\/strong> from Istanbul to San Francisco<\/a>, departing from Istanbul at 11:43 UTC, 2 minutes ahead of TK1, experienced the same situation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After being airborne for over three hours and flying between Norway and the Faroe Islands, the cabin crew reported a medical emergency due to a sick passenger. Following this, the pilots decided to divert to OSL.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The flight operated with Airbus A350-900<\/a>, registered as TC-LGT, landed safely at OSL at 16:38 UTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After being on the ground for two hours, the flight departed again and landed safely at San Francisco Airport at 3:56 UTC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
