This includes precise timing for pre-departure and post-arrival procedures. The association has also circulated a<strong> Fatigue Mitigation Document<\/strong> to ensure flight safety, especially on routes with a reduced crew.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the work-to-rule action, flight attendants adhered<strong> rigidly to their official schedules <\/strong>and only responded to Crew Center communications within their formally assigned on-call hours.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;During the COVID-19 pandemic, management reduced certain allowances, including the onboard meal allowance. Our association did not oppose these decisions, as the entire country faced difficulties,&#8221; explained a union member.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>&#8220;Now that SriLankan Airlines no longer incurs losses, we request management reinstate the allowances and facilities cut during the pandemic.&#8221;<\/p><cite>Union Member, Sri Lankan Airlines <\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The association lists several benefits that have been reduced or eliminated since the pandemic:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Onboard meal allowance<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Annual fixed increments (not implemented since 2016)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attendance incentive payment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Premium allowance increments<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Minimum productivity duty guarantee (2 hours per day)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>13th-month payment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>City-center hotel accommodations compliant with CAASL regulations<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Uniform provision (previously five sets per year)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/hi-Srilankanairlinescel-20230310160122322-1024x768.webp\" alt=\"SriLankan Airlines Cabin Crew Operating 12-hour+ Flights without Rest Seats\" class=\"wp-image-90038\"\/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Photo- Sri Lankan Airlines<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-unequal-treatment\">Unequal Treatment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The union claims management increased salaries, allowances, and benefits for other airline staff while cabin crew benefits remained cut. <strong>Pilots and co-pilots faced no salary reductions<\/strong> and continued accessing business class rest seats.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The association urges management to immediately address rest seat reallocation on the <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/colombo\/\">Colombo (CMB)<\/a>&#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/melbourne-airport\/\">Melbourne (MEL)<\/a> and <strong>Colombo (CMB)<\/strong>&#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/sydney-airport\/\">Sydney (SYD)<\/a> routes. They also want layovers reinstated in Middle Eastern destinations, including <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/doha-airport\/\">Doha (DOH)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/dammam\/\">Dammam (DMM)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/abu-dhabi-airport\/\">Abu Dhabi (AUH)<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/aviationa2z.com\/index.php\/tag\/dubai-airport\/\">Dubai (DXB).<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following <span>an executive committee decision and consultation with Cabin Members, the association implemented these precautionary measures to protect member interests effective April 10<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-fatigue-concerns\">Fatigue Concerns<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;As cabin crew, we currently operate under rosters affected by cumulative fatigue due to night turnaround flights exceeding 12 hours and long-haul night flights without rest seats. These demanding conditions may compromise performance during emergencies,&#8221; the member added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;We strongly discourage extending Flight Duty Periods at management discretion.
