LONDON-<\/strong> The Airbus A350-900<\/a> equipped with Rolls-Royce’s enhanced Trent XWB-84 EP<\/a> engines has received official certification from Europe’s aviation regulator, EASA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Enhanced Performance capability of the Trent XWB-84 engine will deliver one percent lower fuel consumption, reducing airline operating costs <\/strong>and emissions. <\/strong>Though one percent might seem minimal, these savings accumulate significantly over an aircraft’s lifespan, especially for airlines operating multiple A350-900 aircraft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84 EP evolved from the current engine powering the A350-900 with several design improvements- upgraded fan, compressor, and turbine aerodynamics along with enhanced turbine blade cooling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This certification milestone shows the ongoing development and improvement of the A350-900 and its Trent XWB engines since entering service a decade ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

EASA’s<\/a> approval will soon be followed by FAA <\/a>certification, allowing airlines worldwide to operate aircraft with this new engine variant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
