angle of attack safety features<\/strong> that Boeing plans <strong>to implement across all Max variants<\/strong>, including the already-certified Max 8 and Max 9 models. Consequently, certification delays for the Max 7 and Max 10 will also postpone the deployment of these AOA updates to existing models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The enhancement provides aircraft with a &#8220;synthetic&#8221; AOA sensor to complement the current system, which utilizes two mechanical AOA sensors. Boeing developed these modifications in response to increased regulatory scrutiny following two fatal 737 Max crashes in 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-industry-opposition\">Industry Opposition<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>The Air Line Pilots Association (ALPA), International has formally requested that the FAA deny Boeing&#8217;s exemption application, arguing that approval would allow the SMYD to operate under less stringent reliability standards than normally required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For Boeing, the certification of these aircraft holds critical importance.
